Wanna take the lead and drive the transformation and sales growth of Smartoys in the exciting universe of collectible, merchandising and gaming?

Are you passionate about video games and merchandising licenses like Harry Potter, Marvel, Disney or Dragon Ball? Do you want to be part of the reinvention of Smartoys? Then you might be the player we need to complete our A team and take it to the next level.

Smartoys is the pioneer in video games and merchandising, present in Belgium for 20 years and active through its 18 stores and its online platform.

As part of our transformation, we are looking for talented individuals who can bring their ideas and contribute to strengthening Smartoys’ positioning in our communities.

We are actively looking for a category manager who will be able to connect with our partners: Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo, Logitec, Funko or others and in collaboration with the different teams, develop impactful and innovative activation plans.

What you will do

  • You will devise long-term development strategies for Smartoys based on the new positioning and brand identity
  • You will analyse data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends and position Smartoys properly
  • You will be the one responsible for the pricing and overall promotion of our product categories to maximize consumer appeal in close relationship with the marketing team
  • You will make forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventory of the stores and the ecommerce platform
  • You will be in charge of budget development and revenue for Smartoys
  • You will place appropriate orders to ensure product availability that meets consumer demands
  • You will foster trust relationship with vendors to reach better pricing and expand product categories
  • You will Connect directly or indirectly with the key partners of Smartoys : Funko, Nemesis, Playstation, Nintendo, Xbox, Logitech , etc and translate their priorities into strong activation plans at Smartoys
  • You will coordinate the design and the production of the activation plan in collaboration with the marketing team and agencies
  • You will lead the social media strategies in collaboration with the social media manager
  • You will brief the stores Field Director about the priorities, activations, promotions and any other relevant

What we are looking for

  • You have at least a first category manager experience or similar position
  • You have a strong commercial mindset and full comprehension of marketing and sales principles
  • You speak fluently Dutch-English-French (in order of importance)
  • You are a great communicator – strong written and oral communication skills
  • You have strong analytical skills including experience reviewing performance results and making recommendations for future actions
  • You are at ease with data analysis and forecasting methods
  • You are proficient in MS Office and a master at making impactful Power Point presentations
  • You have great organization skills and you are detail oriented
  • You are dynamic, motivated, and entrepreneurial minded with an internal drive to continuously hit goals and deadlines with a curiosity and desire to learn
  • You are very flexible in your day2day job
