In your role as a Data Scientist, you’ll be in a driving seat to not only deliver impact on our technical processes and systems but also to guide strategic decision-making within our company, make a difference in our customer’s entertainment, communication and future digital experiences, and drive new business development by applying state-of-the-art machine learning and analytics capabilities in a Big Data context.

TASKS
  • Develop business cases for innovative ideas by providing data-driven insights which prove their value.
  • Come up with new, data-driven, innovative ideas to generate value from our data sources and build a business case for them. Pitch your ideas to business stakeholders.
  • Help cultivate data-driven initiatives by providing end-to-end assistance in the development of prototypes and MVPs.
  • Maintain an extensive overview of the data sources that are available both within Telenet and externally.
  • Provide analytical guidance in strategic decision-making processes.
  • Use new and existing Machine Learning techniques both on small as well as big data and develop new algorithms where necessary.
PROFILE
  • Business acumen: You are able to quickly grasp new business processes and are creative in finding ways to improve upon them using data.
  • Clear Communication: You’re an excellent communicator and storyteller effectively tuning your delivery to your target audience, i.e. from engineer to C-level executive.
  • Visualisation: You know how to facilitate turning data into insights by using the right visualisations for your results.
  • Machine Learning & statistics: You like Bayes and Markov, Neural Networks are no black box to you. You can apply your profound machine learning & statistics skills in a Big Data context.
  • Pragmatic: You are pragmatic in your approach. You use the right techniques to provide the needed quality and detail while avoiding complex solutions.
  • Big Data Technology: You constantly maintain an overview of the Big Data landscape, allowing yourself to use new technologies where needed.
  • Prototyping: You are flexible in the languages (Scala, Python, JavaScript, R, ...) and technologies (Elasticsearch, Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, …) you use. This allows you to develop a prototype end-to-end.
Who are we looking for?
  • Master or PhD with a focus on informatics/math/statistics/economics
  • 10 years of experience in data science (propensity modelling, segmentations, machine learning, …) and/or big data (Hadoop, Spark, R, Python, …)
  • Be able to translate and communicate a statistical model towards actionable insights to make sure the outcome drives change & value
  • Innovation should be in your genes
  • Be able to deliver projects autonomously and share your know-how to make sure the team keeps out-performing
  • Be able to communicate in Dutch & English
