Purpose of the position

The Data Strategy & Development Manager is part of the Business Intelligence department, which company-wide is responsible to provide end-to-end data solutions. In this role the person will be responsible to further develop and implement the overall Data Strategy. This involves assessing the as-is situation, development of possible roadmaps, and coordinate the aimed transformation journey. In particular the assessment on potential technological solutions (data platforms, architecture, tooling), which can be sourced locally or from the Mother company, will be key in the role. The Data Strategy & Development Manager will report towards the Head of Business Intelligence. The Business Intelligence department today delivers data and reporting solutions towards 200 internal and external customers from various departments ranging from Commercial to Operational departments.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

• Evaluation of current internal data platform and technologies used


• Evaluation of the overall way of working (e.g. assessment of the self-service model) and data governance


• Assessment of current company scope and impact via the delivered data solutions


• Investigation of Mother company data, analytical platforms, and ongoing plus planned initiatives

• Further enhance and develop the data strategy based on personal input and findings of the AS-IS assessment, aiming for an as high as possible business impact


• Development of possible roadmaps for the company, taking into account the strategic and cost implications of the different scenario’s


• Evaluation of new technologies not yet implemented in the company (e.g. Data Science), to be potentially added to the overall strategy


• Align roadmaps with all stakeholders and eventually propose/present ideal roadmap to the decision makers


• Work out final roadmap and roll-out plan in detail, taking into account necessary manpower, profiles, and setting realistic milestones

• Coordinate the roadmap implementation with internal and external stakeholders


• Manage or participate in projects (with teams) of all kinds as part of the roadmap or the general development


• Make sure efforts are translating into increased and better data solutions, and lead to an increase in data-driven business insights

• Be involved during project intakes in order to assess business impact. As well involvement in the prioritization of various projects


• Assist in the scoping of different projects, in order to assist the Managers to foresee the necessary resources to complete the desired projects


• Seek for business impact by proposing solutions towards internal departments

Your Profile:

• Master degree or equivalent through experience


• At least 5 years of experience with data technology and (various) data platforms


• Proven experience and understanding of data integration, transformation (ETL/ELT), and architecture


• Strong passion for data, related (new) technologies (e.g. machine learning), and the impact on business performance via BI solutions (e.g. Spotfire)


• Ability to manage projects and teams


• Experience with senior leadership and able to serve as a trustworthy advisor


• Cool, positive, and ambitious although realistic attitude


• Able to deal with new issues and coming up with pragmatic solutions


• Written and verbal communication skills in English
