Business Risk Management (BRM) leaders within the Business Growth, Innovation and Advocacy function of the Global Development (GD) organization within Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine (J&JIM) are responsible for working with business partners to provide expertise and guidance on business risk. GD is responsible for executing the clinical trial portfolio of studies, Phase I – IV. The position will be responsible for establishing an agile risk methodology that provides principles and procedures on how to identify, prioritize, monitor, and manage risk across Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Research and Development, GD functions, studies, countries, and sites. Risks will need to be assessed across multiple click trial risk domains (e.g. operational, quality/compliance, resourcing, supplier, etc…) to have a balanced and prioritized view of risk across the clinical trial portfolio. Additional responsibilities will be assisting with the building of the broader departmental capabilities for business risk management.

The position will partner with the BRM Leads for Enterprise Risk Management and Crisis Management / Business Continuity to coordinate activities to unify a multi-dimensional view of threats and opportunities to GD clinical trials. The portfolio risks will be harmonized with the J&JIM Therapeutic Areas to promote a synergistic portfolio assessment and actioning of risks that are impactful to the delivery of our clinical trials. The goal is to equip GD and their internal J&JIM stakeholders with mechanisms to adjust how they operate to maintain their Johnson & Johnson Credo commitments.

BRM Leaders will provide independent monitoring of business partner risks and be responsible for communication to ensure transparency. Drive GD to assess risks and opportunities in multiple internal and external risk domains to implement adaptive approaches to making risk-based portfolio decisions.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Assist with the establishment and oversight of GD Business Risk Management procedures
  • Create and monitor compliance to GD Crisis Management and Business Continuity processes (a component of the broad business risk strategy)
  • Identify and assess internal / external risks to GD and R&D, partner with stakeholders to create mitigation plans
  • Validate the robustness of risk mitigation and Business Continuity plans
  • Coordinate Business Risk Management activities across Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine and the enterprise
  • Analyze and report risk trends to identify thematic areas
  • Engage in GD metrics and analytics workstreams to mature the measurement system to be more predictive of risk areas
  • Participate in business reviews, committees, and governances
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including risk management professionals to stay current on risk practices and industry trends
  • Attend conferences and pharmaceutical industry events with relevance to position responsibilities

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required

Required:

  • 10+ years of experience with a minimum of 3 years of Portfolio Risk Management experience
  • Pharmaceutical industry background

  • Strong interpersonal skills and confident presenter
  • Ability to summarize complex issues and share the key insights
  • Ability to partner effectively with Corporate groups, Functional heads and Business Office colleagues
  • Experience managing the development and continuous improvement of BRM capabilities
  • Experience with organization change management in BRM
  • Up to 15% travel – Domestic & International

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $142,000 to $244,950.

  • The compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting applies to candidates hired in the United States. Candidates hired outside the United States will be eligible for compensation and benefits in accordance with their local market.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

  • Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year
  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington - up to 56 hours per calendar year
  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays - up to 13 days per calendar year
  • Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
