The Director of Strategic Vaccines Capital Investments leads the project delivery process for an international portfolio of large-sized projects for the Vaccines network. These investments will run from Feasibility stage to Hand-over and Close-out. It is the responsibility of this role to ensure an outcome which meets all the defined Investment objectives for Safety, Quality, cost, schedule, delivering the committed business benefits.
This responsibility relates to design, procurement, construction, qualification, hand-over and close-out of new and or upgraded production, offices, warehouses, labs facilities.
The Head of Vaccines Capital Investments manages an Annual CapEx spend of >80 £M internationally by multiple projects.
Your Responsibilities
- Have the overall accountability of a portfolio of Strategic Investments for GSK Vaccines.
- Define and decide the final project budgets and schedules worked out by Project Managers. Lead the process of projects business cases preparation and ensure submission to the MNIB (Manufacturing Infrastructure Investment Board)
- Design the project organization structure & drive project teams capacity management. Monitors, appraises, and upgrades individual and team performance as required to assure project success. Installs a proactive, “can do” attitude within the project and purveys a “preventive rather than corrective” mentality.
- Drive the Project Execution Plan process, documenting the project delivery strategy and the success criteria according to the PMF Standard. Establishes a Quality Plan for the project and is proactive in planning for quality.
- Prepare monthly progress reports according to the PMF Standard. Keeps the Steering Group and Sponsors informed of critical issues that could jeopardize projects success.
- Develop a risk management strategy for the project and implements associated processes and tools to ensure effective identification, monitoring and management of project risk.
- Lead the qualification of the engineering services providers and decide and direct the appropriate contractual strategy. Uses proven selection processes to develop the appropriate contract strategy for the project, selects and manages contractors and settles any claims in accordance with company policy.
- Implement strict project and financial controls, including procedures for change control / management, cost control / forecasting, physical progress / productivity measurement, and invoice review / payment. Following Central GE standards.
- Ensure that the overall commissioning, validation & handover strategy that fully complies with the PMF Standard and implements to ensure a timely and complete handover to the Customer.
Basic Qualifications
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- 10 to 15 years’ experience in project management of large capital projects or portfolio of projects.
- Accountable for Capital Investments spread Globally through Vx network
- Oversee multiple Capital Investments each approximately 100M £ or higher
- Broad knowledge of project management and technologies processes
- Pharmaceutical experienceis a must.
- People management and communication skills, including supervision / motivation of others
- Project controls experience on major capital projects, including cost estimating, cost forecasting, change control/management, scheduling, progress measurement.
- Fluent in English and French (written and spoken)
