Your development is our focus; an environment where you can enrich your career journey through committed learning and development.Build your career by helping us forge new paths to create a better world for us all.As an Environmental, Health and Safety, Sustainability and Security, EHSS&S (EHS, SHE, HSE) Manager you provide tactical and strategic direction for the organization and will be part of the Belgian Senior Leadership Team (Direction Committee). This position is the interface between the EHSS&S function and the overall Belgium organization. Furthermore, you coordinate countrywide with stake holders to create new environmental, health and safety, security and sustainability standard operating procedures (SOP) and maintain existing SOPs in accordance with the company-wide strategy. You will lead the Belgium EHSS&S Team with accountability for EHS3 performance.Key Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Leads and develops topics in accordance with the Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, and Sustainability (EHSSS&S) organization for Belgium.
  • Responsible for Seveso III site compliance, oversees the induction and training process in relation to Seveso III regulations.
  • Serves as EHSS&S point of contact for government, customer and internal safety audits.
  • Supports with technical expertise for the application of Process Safety methodology and compliance.
  • Supports introduction and monitoring of full-spectrum EHS processes for all Avantor businesses, including Manufacturing, Production, Distribution, Analysis Laboratories and Services.
  • Ability to drive cultural change through leadership action and human centricity.
  • Consulting on risk assessment (planning, implementation, and operations) for all site locations.
  • Manages incident investigations.
  • Develops, maintains and coordinates the (standardized) audit program Belgium wide; aligns with the overall European organization for ISO certification (45001, 14001).
  • Functions as a Senior Auditor/Lead Auditor according to the standards ISO 45001 & ISO 14001.
  • Cultivates a strong safety management culture. Works with all functional areas to drive standardization, improve efficiency, and reduce injury rates.
  • Interacts with the EHSS&S Leadership Team to advise necessary continuous improvement efforts so that systems and processes are in line with overall company strategy, quality policy and local regulations.
  • Certification Preventieadviseur niveau I is required,
  • Certification Milieucoördinator A/B would be beneficial but not necessary.
  • Experience in the Chemical or Science industry.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience within a global organisation.
  • Languages: Dutch, English are required, any other European language is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of Seveso III.
  • Knowledge from manufacturing, production, distribution, analysis laboratories and services businesses general or chemical industry.
  • Operational knowledge: ISO requirements, Belgium/European occupational health and safety legislation, local governing agencies.
  • Experienced internal auditor (ISO 45001, ISO 14001) in international settings.
  • Willingness to travel regularly, also internationally (estimated at 20% of time across Belgium).
