The EMEA Product Engineer Residential POU Products is a key position in the European Product Management Team.

The Product Engineer will actively drive & execute development projects & launch new POU (Point of Use) water treatment products for residential applications in the EMEA region. Furthermore, the Product Engineer will “own” the creation & maintenance of product data related to existing & new POU water treatment products .

His/her in-depth knowledge of water chemistry/treatment will also be leveraged to the Product Engineer Residential POE Products & the Product Engineer Light-Commercial Products.

The Product Engineer will also be part of the European Technical Team.

She/he will ideally be based in Olen, Belgium or in one of our other main markets where EWS owns an affiliate company.

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Manage & execute NPD (New Product Development & Product Enhancement) projects :
    • Set functional & target specifications based on customer needs & VoC
    • Propose new product concepts & designs
    • Establish “proof-of-concept” by performing tests on prototypes,
    • Work with internal & external resources for industrial/mechanical design, electronics hardware/firmware & IoT if applicable
    • Validate products by validating fit with set target specifications
    • Launch products together with Operations, Marketing & Sales colleagues
  • Establish & maintain product data :
    • Product specifications
    • BoMs & P/Ns on CAD (SolidWorks PDM)
    • Installation instructions
    • Product Bulletins
    • Wetted parts lists
  • Obtain & maintain product certifications in collaboration with local TT (Technical Team) members across Europe
  • Perform internal & external product training for POU residential water treatment products

Skills and Competencies:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering of chemistry or equivalent through education and work experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of water chemistry, water treatment processes & related water treatment media.
  • Hands-on experience in developing new products, in particular POU products for water treatment – VoC into product specs, “proof-of-concept”, product validation & launch
  • Experience with project management
  • Having worked in an international environment, with internal & external design resources (industrial, mechanical, electrical, electronic)
  • Exposure to mechanical product design, hardware & firmware design and integration of IoT functionalities into products are an asset
  • Knowledge of materials suitable for contact with water intended for human consumption & experience with related European regulatory requirements
  • Experience with obtaining product certifications for residential POU water treatment products
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Computer skills :
    • Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel
    • Microsoft Project
    • SolidWorks 3D
    • AutoCAD / Draftsight
    • Indesign
Language & Communication Skills

Ability to fluently speak, read and write English – French & German are an asset.

Feels comfortable to hold cross-functional meetings, trainings as well as presenting project cases

Skilled to analyze and interpret general business information, professional journals, technical procedures, or european regulations & directives. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and installation instructions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and from customers.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
