Based in Mons, Belgium the DevOps Engineer plays a key role in supporting the maintenance, troubleshooting and automated deployment of Independent Verification, Validation and Quality (IVVQ) reference environments.

The Role

We are looking for a talented DevOps Engineer who will be working within the Independent Verification, Validation and Quality (IVVQ) system administration team on DevOps activities related to maintenance, troubleshooting and automated deployment of the IVVQ reference environments. This is an ideal position for an engineer who has a passion for cloud based services, automation, scripting and coding.

The DevOps Engineer will be part of a team that develop and operate the NATO enterprise wide reference system in support Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) and change activities. This includes the management of technical lab facilities, as well as providing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) in private, hybrid and public cloud environments, applying leading orchestration, deployment and virtualization technologies.
  • Operate and maintain private, hybrid and public cloud environments used by IVVQ and its internal and external customers
  • Deploying and configuring these environments in preparation for test events
  • Ensuring that environments comply with NATO security requirements;
  • Achieving efficient operation of the environments by automating deployment of services and their configuration
  • Ensuring proper change and configuration management practices are put in place for these environments
  • Replicating production environments to ensure that test activities are conducted in a suitable environment
  • Act as alternate for operating, maintaining and custodial functions for crypto equipment
  • Providing monthly management reporting regarding the status and availability of the reference environments
About You

You easily establish good relationship and are able to relate to people at all levels. You produce new ideas, approaches and insights to deliver innovate solutions to problems. Able to adapt to changing circumstances you can manage ambiguity, accept new ideas and change initiatives, further to this you have:
  • Experience provisioning and maintaining of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) in private, public or hybrid cloud environments
  • Ideally experience in working with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation etc.)
  • Windows or Linux/Unix systems administration experience and testing experience
  • Experience in working with physical and software defined networks
  • Working experience as DevOps engineer for at least 2 years
  • Working-level knowledge of MS-Office, Project, Visio and SharePoint
  • Ideally have experience with cryptographic equipment
  • Ideally work experience as a tester or independent verification and validation engineer, during all phases of the project lifecycle
