The role will also support Microsoft’s engagement on sanctions-related issues, ensuring alignment with EU and transatlantic policy developments. This includes identifying and engaging with the right stakeholders and helping to articulate Microsoft’s compliance posture and operational resilience in response to evolving geopolitical dynamics.
At a time of geopolitical volatility, this role will be instrumental in working together with the General Manager, Strategic Relations and the broader Strategic Relations team and across EGA to develop a strategy that positions Microsoft as a transatlantic bridge builder and a force for good in the development and deployment of AI. The candidate will also work closely with our colleagues in Member State capitals and in the U.S. to ensure an aligned approach and narrative on these issues.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic communicator with a strong political network, who can navigate today’s geopolitical environment and advise the broader European Government Affairs team on relevant actions and initiatives. He or she should have significant experience working with the European institutions, international organisations and an ability to work across teams at Microsoft. We are looking for someone with strong analytical and communications skills, who can build trust with different audiences. He or she should have a relevant academic or professional background in trade policy, government affairs, economics and/or political science.

Qualifications
Requiredqualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field AND proficient experience in the private sector, government, or academia
- Or equivalent experience
- Demonstrable track record of engaging with government officials, political and corporate stakeholders.
- Demonstrable political acumen and extensive understanding of geopolitical trends and the EU’s role.

- Proficient written and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to discuss and advance complex technical and policy concepts with diverse stakeholders at various levels.
- Demonstrated ability to drive impactful campaigns to address complex challenges, individually and as part of a wider, matrixed team.
- Flexibility and willingness to shift priorities and adapt to new policy needs, leveraging government affairs background and expertise.
- A collaborative and team-first mindset and a desire to learn and grow.

Responsibilities
- Develop Microsoft’s trade and transatlantic engagement strategy.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with EU institutions, Member State governments, and transatlantic stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze trade-related developments in the EU and globally that affect Microsoft and our EU stakeholders, including the WTO digital trade discussions and bilateral trade dialogues.
- Collaborate with Microsoft’s U.S. Government Affairs team to ensure alignment and coordination on transatlantic priorities.
- Support executive engagements and represent Microsoft in relevant trade and transatlantic policy forums.
- Work with colleagues across Member State capitals to assess national positions and integrate these insights into Microsoft’s broader EU strategy.
- Contribute to internal briefings, policy papers, and strategic planning.
