Today, IGC produces and markets a large variety of synthetic and natural graphite powders, conductive carbon blacks and water-based dispersions of consistent high quality. The headquarters of the IGC division are located in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. Production facilities and commercial offices can be found across the globe.The IGC plant in Willebroek Belgium produces highly conductive carbon black (CB) for the polymer and battery markets. You will have the ability to significantly contribute to a leading player in this market.EHS Manager – Willebroek BEThis person is highly committed to environment, health and safety (EHS) and thinks in terms of Continuous Improvement and Collaboration. He/she reports to the CB Operations Leader / Plant Manager and will be part of the divisional Safety Network. Together with the Management team you ensure the safeguarding of all employees, consultants, contractors and subcontractors as well as members of the local community, while respecting the wellbeing of the employees and the environment.Position Responsibilities- Continuously work on an EHS culture inside the Willebroek plant based on the global strategy;
- Partner with management team, local workers, unions and Plant Manager to reach an accident free workplace at all levels throughout the plant;
- Implement and roll out a system to continuously develop and sustain a Safety Culture;
- Support HR and Plant Manager improving EHS KPIs, lead and give guidelines to plant management;
- Propose and communicate EHS policies, ensuring that the plant is complying with European and local regulations in EHS matters;
- Develop and emphasize behaviors, by improving safety empowerment and commitment on the floor and within the organization, as part of Continuous Improvement, share safety leadership for creating additional value to the Company Performance, considering safety is the key for quality assets;
- Develop training (with HR support) to help create a safety mindset within the entire organization;
- Drive and formalize Change Management into the organization;
- Support and / or lead investigation and create / recommend actions for EHS incidents;
- Support and / or lead regulatory inspections /audits and create / recom mend action plans after audits; ensure completion through regular follow-up;
- Ensure that we learn from EHS accidents / incidents
- Ensure that best practices are shared inside the organization between sites and also inside transversal supports as well within other regions;
- Manage internal and external relationships on behalf of the government requirements and internal policy compliance;
- Effectively manage multi-projects and tasks by using timelines, budgets and tracking systems of action plan/milestones to assure self-delivery;
- Supports and implement the Imerys Safety System (Protocols, TAKE 5, S7…).
- Together with the local I³ Champion, implement and drive the Imerys Operational Excellence program called I³ (Imerys Industrial Improvement) within his/her area.
- Master Engineering degree.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in EHS within the industry, preferably the chemical, automotive, pharmaceutical or food industry.
- Registered Safety Adviser Level 1 according to Belgian regulation.
- Strong knowledge of EU / Belgium EHSS Directives and Regulations.
- Risk Assessment and Risk Management knowledge and experience.
- Legal compliance and regulatory understanding, liaising with external regulators and stakeholders when required.
- Knowledge and understanding of EHS management systems.
- Act as a Compliance Authority.
- Incident investigation, human factors assessment, functional safety (SIL) or operational controls e.g. Permit to Work / LOTOTO.
- Fluent in both Dutch and English, written and oral.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- Hands-on mentality.
- Someone who prefers to build foundations, bring structure, develop processes and systems rather than maintaining, optimizing and fine-tuning.
- A “can-do” attitude with a sense of optimism. An enthusiastic self-starter who can think and work in an autonomous way with little supervision.
- Very at ease with IT tools.
