As an Application Engineer you will be responsible for building & deploying customer solution of Connected Utility platform (Connexo), an adaptive and open software platform for utilities, their control and monitoring. Conexo securely collects, processs, stores and leverages smart grid data. Easily expands from data collection to data management or vice versa, incrementally extends with any application the client needs.
As an Application Engineer you will analyze, develop and test customer-specific applications for existing hardware and software products. Including documentation, training and customer facing support as part of the project deliverables. You will be in direct contact with and report to Project Manager.

Your responsibilities:
Analysis:
To analyze specifications, developed together by your peers, for solution development
To add software elements to the existing software according to the solution that must be developed
To define detailed data semantics, structure, access, and communication standards considering the applied hardware and required functionality and performance requirements. (=Technical Design)
To select and describe the algorithms for data processing
To define how the product must be implemented
To define detailed tasks for 3rd party contractors when required (through Jira/Installation guides…)
To analyze any customer specifications when closely aligned with defined products or solutions

Development/Delivery:
To integrate the functional specifications into the existing product line and into the technical design
To define and describe the parameterization and the elements needed to implement the parameterization, both for HW as for SW
To program the solution
To coordinate & track (scheduling/testing/quality) specific development activities performed by 3rd parties
To implement and configure the solution
To test the solution considering the interaction with other elements, for own products as well as for customer-specific situations
In certain cases, the tests can be conducted at the customers’ location
To document the developed/installed solution, make it accessible for colleagues in case of maintenance and possibly use it as standard within the development group
To create customer/solution specific documentation for training and other operational tasks
To support the provisioning of customer/3rd party training services
To provide customer support during nursing period
Actively involved in migration activities and initial system load activities

Other tasks:
To maintain the developed/delivered solution
To train colleagues in the context of mutual knowledge transfer
To stay informed and to keep your knowledge up to date to understand the functional needs of the different types of customers and to offer corresponding solutions
To participate in internal consultation meetings and consultation meetings with customers
To contribute to presales related activities (WBS, estimations)
To perform 2nd / 3rd line support activities.



Your Competencies and responsibilities:
You consult and communicate with your peers regarding additional information about the technical and functional specifications given to a required solution
You report to and consult with your peers about solution suggestions, development process and development issues
You have contact with customers for the implementation of the solution
You have contact with colleagues of your department to exchange experiences
You report to and consult with the program operation lead and the project manager about solution suggestions, development process and development issues
As an employee you have the responsibility and authority to take decisions related to your job description. In case of doubt consult your superior or a colleague with an equivalent function



Your qualification:
Bachelor / Master in Electronics or Informatics or similar
Knowledge of company specific software (Atlassian suite, JIRA; Confluence; Bitbucket; …) and general programming languages (JAVA)
Good knowledge of SW, programming languages (JAVA), architecture
Sound knowledge of the products and of the corresponding functionalities (background in electricity market could be beneficial)
Sound oral and written knowledge of English
Sound knowledge of standard software (MS Office)
Sound knowledge of Honeywell software, HW and communication technologies
Sound knowledge of Honeywell’s internal processes
Previous experience in similar role as Application Engineer, Solution Analyst or Java Developer with customer facing experience would be very welcomed
