Our client is a cutting-edge Research and Development company at the forefront of innovation.

As we continue to expand our R&D efforts, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Chief Accountant to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities:

1. Financial Oversight:

  • Manage and oversee all financial aspects of the company’s R&D operations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures tailored to the unique needs of an R&D environment.

2. Grant and Subsidy Management:

  • Identify and assess various grants and subsidies available at both local and European levels to support R&D initiatives.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to understand project requirements and eligibility criteria for different funding opportunities.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive grant applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Work closely with department heads to develop and manage R&D budgets.
  • Provide financial insights and guidance to support strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct regular financial forecasting to anticipate funding needs and opportunities.

4. Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare detailed financial reports for internal stakeholders, executive management, and external funding agencies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial statements, ensuring transparency and accountability.

5. Tax and Compliance:

  • Stay updated on local and European tax regulations related to R&D activities.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors to optimize tax strategies and ensure compliance.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to mitigate financial risks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience (4+ years) in a senior accounting role, preferably within an R&D environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of local and European grants, subsidies, and tax incentives related to research and development.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex financial information effectively.
  • Speak English fluently and knowledge of Dutch is mandatory.
