MECHANICAL PROJECT ENGINEER

For our customer, a renowned international technology company with its HQ based in Antwerp, developer and manufacturer of equipment for the printing industry, we are looking for a mechanical project engineer.

As mechanical project engineer you will be the technical specialist for all mechanical processes in the production plants, based in Germany, China and Brazil. You will manage technical projects from A to Z and provide technical support to the production sites. You will be joining a dynamic and enthusiastic team of specialist within a challenging and international environment.

Your main responsibilities:

• You are responsible for the design and execution of mechanical projects, in the domain of converting, cutting, slitting, packaging, …
• You make concept and detailed drawings and lay-outs in 3D Solid Works or 2D AutoCAD
• You will ensure that the agreed targets are met (functional specifications, budget, timing, safety ,….).
• You propose improvement projects for the existing international installations based on in-depth analysis of performance, efficiency, downtime root-cause or product quality aspects.
• You manage projects from concept until hand-over to production.
• In the execution, of these projects you work together with and give guidance to external and internal partners.
• You realize your projects with a maximum standardization of components.
• You get acquainted with and become a specialist of our installed production equipment.
• You support local technical teams in the analysis of technical issues, e.g. troubleshooting, route cause analysis.
• You provide training to the local first line responsible in your discipline.
• You present your projects to management and report about the status on regular base and.
• You follow-up new trends, concepts and techniques in your domain.
• You secure your specific knowledge by:
  • Clear, structured and transferable reporting on design and construction data and functions
  • Set up and deliver accurate construction files.
  • Investigate, put together and distribute ‘best practice’ maintenance data.

Your profile:

• You hold a higher technical education (Master degree) in mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering or mechatronics, or equal by experience.
• You have at least 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering and high affinity with production and technics.
• You bring expert knowledge on mechanical engineering (experience with machine design, belt drives, bearings, …).
• You have knowledge on machine regulations, machine safety, the Machinery Directive
• You have at least basic knowledge on general electricity, robotics, drive systems, machine automation.
• Knowledge on Solid Works and AutoCAD
• Accuracy, correctness and punctuality in reporting.
• Hands-on and strive for solutions.
• Acquainted with MS office, data management, statistical analysis
• Team-player and this in multicultural, international and intercontinental teams.
• Willing to travel on regular base (15-25%)
• Excellent knowledge of English, both in speaking and writing. Chinese, Dutch and/or German are a plus.
