Job DescriptionAs a Financial and Accounting Controller, you manage under the supervision of the Financial Manager of the Region the profitability and the production costs for our region.You are a member of the Overseas division.The Overseas division was launched in 2007 and is rapidly growing, with customers in some 50 different countries. Our division is now strong of more than 400 persons, from 12 different nationalities, who operate 6 plants and 11 offices to serve our customers. Our main customer base is in the mining industry, with a focus on gold mining in West Africa, Copper and Cobalt mining in the Copper Belt and the Gold and Nickel mining in South East Asia. This requires from them versatile qualities and quickautonomous decisionsto cope with all kinds of issues to solve, in order to provide to our customers a service of Excellence each and every one is deserving.this light but worldwide structure needs to be monitored and regularly audited to meet Group controlling financial reporting and deadlines. The disparity of accounting, financial and tax regulation in the various countries where we operate needs to be mastered and monitored to avoid any fiscal and/or financial reporting issues.Your Responsibilities
  • You develop and produce financial & commercial indicators for the general Management and follow the activities of all the entities closely with commercial & operational teams.
  • You are responsible for the monthly financial & commercial reporting of the consolidated accounts of the region.
  • After liaising with the Carmeuse Overseas team, mainly the one based in Paris and Monthey in Switzerland, this enable you, to support and control with excellence and efficiency monthly financial statements of the overseas structures and the main entity in Switzerland.
  • You must meet all deadlines inherent for consolidation at the Group level which is based in Louvain La Neuve, Belgium.
Your Profile
  • A university degree.
  • Accounting background knowledge, based in Ile de France closely to Paris or in Belgium, Louvain-La-Neuve .
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Financial Auditor or a similar position in an international company or international audit firm acting in Africa and/or in South-East Asia shall be praised.
  • Accounting and Financial software and Microsoft Excel should be familiar to you.
  • Tax knowledge and business regulation in countries like Indonesia, Philippines and Ohada countries in Africa will be highly appreciated.
  • Good communication skills and absolute trust shall be of utmost importance, as you will start on your own in the region, as the Financial Controller of Carmeuse. Being on your own does not mean being alone. Besides the immediate contact with the team based in France and Switzerland, you will enjoy the support from the Carmeuse Overseas network and, when needed, from the Group controlling which is based in Belgium.
  • A very good conduct of English and French are requested.
  • An enthusiastic, curious mentality, appreciating doing things seriously.
Your TeamThe Finance department CMO is composed by the Finance Manager based in Maisons Alfort (5 kms from Paris) and an international team located throughout the world but mainly in France (Nantes), Switzerland (Monthey), North & West Africa countries (Tunisia, Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea Republic, Ghana, Ivory Coast) and so called Copperbelt region (Zambia and DRC).Your ManagerSid Ali is our Finance & Administrative Manager. He has a long track in Finances and Administration and has therefore an extensive knowledge regarding management control, Audit and international business law. Over the last 14 years he fulfilled different assignments in Carmeuse Overseas (creation of Carmeuse overseas subsidiaries around the world, monitoring of management control, support & coaching all the local finances & accounting collaborators…). His background offers a complete view on the business needs.Above all, Sid Ali Dairi is rigorous and working daily to improve the department processes. He offers a large autonomy to the team members. On the other hand, he likes to share his experience and coach new comers. He is a manager inviting permanently the team to suggest ideas and improvements.
