About Cobalt and Specialty Materials
Mastering the cobalt value chain. Umicore’s expertise covers the sourcing, production and distribution of cobalt and nickel products. Umicore’s materials are at the heart of products we use every day such as rechargeable batteries, tools, paints and tyres. Our recycling and refining processes give new life to cobalt and other metals and reduce environmental impacts. To meet the demands of our customers we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new ideas. Which is where you come in.
What you will be doing
As Business Development Manager you will :
  • Contribute to the growth strategy of the business line built on green chemistry (shift to Eco-friendly/efficient portfolio) and sustainable applications (Clean mobility, bio-plastics, Sustainable building + lifestyle & precursors for electronics – increase presence & value by introducing catalyst, precursor or raw materials).
  • Lead & organize the Carboxylates business development and support the global commercial and R&D departments of Umicore Specialty Materials Bruges aligned with the Business Line’s strategy.
  • Facilitate organic growth (portfolio expansions, geographic growth) & map M&A growth targets.
  • Understand & translate developments in organic chemistry market & gather, organize and convey knowledge about Carboxylate/organic chemistry market and application knowledge to the Business Line.
  • Develop and nurture internal and external business networks.
  • Working in Bruges site with remote working possibilities.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague with:
  • Master degree either in engineering or chemistry or economics
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with either technical commercial activities
  • Business Development Project experience
  • International business exposure Working knowledge of Chemistry and Catalysis
  • Well-developed (interpersonal) communication skills: oral and written Languages: Dutch and English
  • Commitment to achieve objectives and goals
  • Analytical, common sense and economic/financial skills to investigate business/commercial opportunities
  • Reporting skills & well-structured
  • Business and personal ethics with good negotiation skill
