Job PurposeSupports GSK employees in performing their everyday activities under the highest legal and ethical standards. Helping the business deliver their commercial ambitions in a sustainable and ethical manner, by embedding an ethical leadership and compliance culture in a way that protects the reputation of GSK and mitigates risk. Responsible for compliance and risk management advice to the Pharma businesses in Belgium. Luxembourg & The Netherlands. Member of the local Leadership Team, but independent from the commercial business (General Manager).
Key Responsibilities
- Works with GSK leaders of designated departments in Benelux to lead the implementation of a compliance programme which builds and embeds a values-based culture in a way that supports GSK strategies and principles
- Partners with business leaders in Benelux to proactively identify, evaluate and manage risks in accordance with GSK’s internal control framework and in a way, that enables sustainable business growth (Risk Management and support the local RMCB meetings)
- Manage internal reporting and escalation of issues the LOCs may face
- Partnering with CIT (Corporate Investigations Team), HR and Legal to ensure reported concerns are promptly and thoroughly investigated, with suitable corrective and remediation action and discipline where appropriate
- Implementation of global compliance programs by translating global requirements into local specifications, including any relevant training
- Partner with other governance groups (eg Medical, Legal, Quality, HR, Finance) to develop integrated compliance solutions, ensuring together that LOC operations are aligned and compliant with applicable Codes and Regulations (internal and external)
- Advises senior leaders in the business on risk associated with emerging business strategies and pragmatic options for risk mitigation and management; provides advisory services in relation to GSK Policies and Standard Operating Procedures in designated areas
- Ensures that proper internal controls are in place and in use by independently assessing the framework (continuous improvement of the local Internal Control Framework); supports the business to ensure controls operate effectively and gaps identified are appropriately remediated.
- Supporting the closure of local Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs) coming from internal audits, internal & external investigations, Independent Business Monitoring
- Acts as a change leader for standardisation, where appropriate, to simplify the complexity of practices while maintaining adherence to GSK policy and values
- Designs and provides specific Compliance training to all levels of organization
- Leads the Compliance Manager(s) to deliver on the key objectives

- Leads initiatives designed to raise the ’value added’ to customers. These activities will have a wider or longer-term effect than a specific action designed to address a particular customer issue or problem

- Is Proactive and provides continuous communication to all levels of the organization
- Extensive knowledge & experience with compliance and risk & control programmes and processes
- Demonstrated effective risk management, process improvement, and/or project management skills
- Able to communicate at a senior level
- Project management skills to drive multiple initiatives across multiple departments simultaneously
- Track record in providing high degree of self-reliance, accountability, and value-added consultation/support to senior business managers and other support functions
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence individuals at all levels of the organisation to work in accordance with company values
- Ability to work effectively and sensitively in a highly matrixed organisation
- Maintain a high degree of credibility, independence, integrity, confidentiality and trust especially around sensitive compliance issues
- Superior listening skills, analytical ability to diagnose problems, resolve conflict and develop practical solutions
- University Degree (Bachelor or Master) in a specialization such as Business Administration, life sciences, Risk Management or Legal
- Industry experience
- Job experience in Compliance and / or Risk Management
- Ability to travel – 40% travel outside of home market
