Electrical System Engineer / Automation Engineer – Maritime construction

Our client is supporting the construction of a tunnel between Germany and Denmark. For construction of the gravel bed that will be the foundation of the tunnel a dedicated and specialized pontoon is being built on a shipyard in the Netherlands. For that pontoon we are looking for an electrical system engineer.

Your responsibilities as Electrical System Engineer

  • Develop software functional demarcation document
  • Prepare and follow up of interface documents
  • Review/co-write functional specification
  • Follow up software development by subcontractor
  • Review/co-design of the operator interface (control desk & HMI)
  • Attend factory acceptance tests
  • Assist on the overall commissioning of 1 or 2 of the projects
  • Document the commissioned systems
  • Ensure the design philosophy is followed
  • You will be part of the technical team that follows the new-building of the pontoon, in particular specialised in the electric installation and possibly also the instrumentation and automation.
  • You will review documents and drawings produced by the shipyard and its subcontractors and check them for conformity with the technical specifications.
  • You will attend factory acceptance tests of the equipment produced by the subcontractors and check whether the products are built according to specifications and drawings
  • After review of drawings and documents, factory acceptance tests of equipment and software you will master the functionality of the pontoon and you will fully understand how it works. You are then prepared to commission the pontoon in the Netherlands in close cooperation with the shipyard and its subcontractors.
  • You will train the crew so that they are able to work with the pontoon.

Your profile:

  • You have a MASTER degree in electronic or electric engineering with strong affinity for mechanics and hydraulics
  • You are fascinated by technics and want to understand how things work
  • You are an analytical thinker keen to improve systems
  • You have strong communication skills necessary for discussions with the shipyard on one side and for instructions to the crew of the pontoon on the other side
  • You are prepared to work partly in Antwerp Belgium, but most of the time on the shipyard in Rotterdam area in the Netherlands

Aanbod

  • First contract of 6 months + extension possible.
  • Project scheduled until end of 2023.
  • 100% on-site presence in Zwijndrecht at the beginning of the project. Afterwards some work is to be done in the Netherlands.
  • Fluent in English
  • Available on short term (max 3w. notice)
  • All-in rate expected. no expenses for travel, accommodation, ... is allowed.
