Financial Analyst (Hospitality - A-STAY)

A-STAYis the hospitality brand in the BESIX STAY holding. BESIX STAY is a joint venture between BESIX Group and Ben Van Loo, the co-founder of XIOR.

A-STAY Antwerp, with its 190 rooms opened its doors November 2019, becoming the 6th largest hotel in the city. A-STAY’s experience is tech-focused but human first and aims to unfold each city it is located in. The Playground (lobby) is a space with a communal spirit, complimented by the large urban garden called The Backyard. A-STAY believes in total flexibility, offering stayers self-serve options to ease their stay. A first in Europe, access to the room is made based on a palm vein scan at check-in. The modern rooms can be personalized via a web app on stayers’ smartphones, adjusting lights, temperature and blinds. A selection of local treats is available at the 24/7 Grabn’Go. Other experiences include a complete gym, a collaborative meeting space, and long stay necessities such as laundry facilities and a shared kitchen. A-STAY has ambitions to grow beyond its location in Antwerp.

As a financial analyst you will play a central role in the finance and accounting activities, ranging from the day to day accounting, periodic closings of the accounts, contacts with customers and suppliers and the follow-up of payments as well as of the preparation of balance sheets and annual accounts, drafting of accounting reports and filing of the VAT returns.

Main responsibilities

• Analysis, follow-up and justification of accounts (general, customers and suppliers);
• Control and management of analytical accounts;
• Processing and payment of incoming invoices;
• Manage bank statements;
• Handle periodical closing process, including typical closing activities like accruals, deferrals, budget variance analysis, etc;
• Preparation of accounting reports, including annual accounts;
• Preparation of tax and VAT declarations;
• Contribute to the preparation of monthly, trimestral and annual financial reports (P&L, cash flow and balance sheets);
• Provide support for internal and external audits;
• Support management decisions by analytical financial insights;
• Contribute to the constant improvement of finance and accountancy related processes, with a special focus on digitization and automation;
• Help in corporate housekeeping activities.

• Bachelor with specialization in accounting or finance;
• 2 to 4 years relevant experience;
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and knowledge in consolidation;
• Practical experience of accounting packages, ERP experience - previous experience with Wings is a plus;
• Previous experience in hotel/hospitality sector preferred;
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word;
• Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail;
• Mature person with good communication skills and a positive attitude;
• Motivated, willing to learn, flexible and open-minded;
• Fluent in English, knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
