We’re looking for an experienced Freelance Team Lead Data Engineerfor one of our customers, to step in during a key transition period and lead a dynamic data engineering team. You’ll ensure a smooth handover from the current lead and later to the incoming permanent hire, while driving impactful data initiatives within a growing digital and data department.

???? Start: Mid-to-late July 2025

⏳ Duration: 6 months (extendable)

???? Location: Brussels (Hybrid)

???? Workload: 4 days/week minimum (Full-time preferred)

???? Languages: French & English (fluent)

Your Mission

  • Lead and mentor a team of 7 interns and 2 external consultants
  • Oversee and optimize data infrastructure and pipelines
  • Guide the team through large-scale Big Data projects
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into data solutions
  • Contribute to the department’s target operating model and Agile practices
  • Ensure high standards in data modeling, performance, and lifecycle management

✅ Must-Haves:

  • Proven leadership (2+ years)
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and traditional ETL tools
  • Solid grasp of software development lifecycle and Agile/DevSecOps
  • Familiarity with Data Vault and other modeling techniques
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills
  • Fluent in French and English
