The Global Purchasing Platform of Aperam regroups all the non-raw material purchasing community of the group and has the prime mission to leverage its >1 BUSD spend across all countries bringing in innovative solutions from the market, leveraging synergies across plants / continents and ultimately actively contribute to cost & innovation leadership of our plants operations.

Mission

As a category manager, you are responsible for developing and operationalising a global purchasing strategy on capex together with your business partners, thus helping you and your team to maximize the value creation and enabling Aperam to stay ahead of competition.

Responsibilities

As a trusted category manager, you are accountable for the overall performance of the Capex category globally, be it on financials, quality, delivery time - and its related risk management. As a consequence:

You develop efficient relationships with & influence the suppliers ecosystem as well as your business partners (key users, head of platforms, divisions, sites) as prime stakeholders.

You act on Aperam’s purchasing performance through the following levers:

  • Developing market expertise within your leadbuying team
  • Designing the category strategy aligned with your business partners, looking at innovation, best practices, TCO methodology and cost drivers to articulate it
  • Understanding, influencing and optimizing the supply chain of the provider as a key lever for purchasing performance increase and risk management optimization
  • Aligning and benchmarking with other category managers, as well as with other industrial companies with whom we partner
  • Supporting your lead buyers negotiations and strategy results for Aperam, challenging where needed
  • Participating to the yearly budget preparation and ensuring the follow-up on actuals

You are convinced that managing your team is about coaching them to help them grow into stronger professionals.

You are driving compliance and efficiency, making sure that applicable purchasing tools/systems for the category are actually used and the Global Purchasing Policy, implemented. You manage risks by transversal analysis, including supplier risk profile, and you understand that as an Aperam employee, you will uphold health & safety and ethical standards at all times, treating your stakeholders accordingly.

Your profile

  • You are driven and feel accountable for your area of responsibility, with a high level of autonomy
  • You have strong influencing and change management skills
  • You are aware of the environment with an innovative mindset
  • You lead your team as a coach, and understand the value of developing people
  • You have an open and innovative mindset
  • You have a technical expertise on purchasing processes & negotiation
  • You speak English fluently and French fluently and preferably at least one other Aperam language (Dutch / Portuguese / German), which supports your excellent communication skills

Your education:

  • Engineering or business administration academics

Your experience:

  • You have been able to sharpen your skills for at least 8 years in strategic purchasing
  • You have a significant experience in managing the related purchasing category at global level
  • You have some experience in team management

Your mobility:

  • You are mobile continentally/internationally up to 30% of the time
