Job Description

Who we are

Virya Energy is active in the development, financing, and operation of projects in the field of energy transition. The company, based in Belgium, was founded at the end of 2019 by Colruyt Group and its majority shareholder, Korys.

Virya Energy is active across the entire value chain of sustainable energy. This includes the production of green energy in Europe through its subsidiaries Eoly Energy and Eurowatt, in Asia through its subsidiary Sanchore and a majority stake in Constant Energy, and energy distribution through its subsidiary DATS 24. Virya Energy is also involved in the development of sustainable hydrogen projects through Virya H2. The company holds interests in service providers to the offshore industry, including GeoXYZ, DotOcean, and Marlinks.

Since October 2023, Virya Energy has also acquired a majority stake in the Belgian company Diodi, which specializes in sustainable agricultural land management.

With over 30 professionals, Virya Energy is rapidly growing its capabilities.

Your role

Investmentand EngagementStrategy:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive investment and engagement strategies for renewable energy portfolio companies and projects, considering market trends, financial viability, and risk assessment;
  • Identify potential investment opportunities, negotiate terms, and secure investment partnerships;
  • Follow-up on portfolio companies and projects, advise on growth strategies, monitor performance, prepare decision making on project and portfolio company level.
Financial Analysis:

  • Conduct financial modelling and analysis to evaluate project feasibility, ROI, and potential risks;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial and portfolio goals align with project objectives.
Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including portfolio companies, investors, public authorities, and industry partners;
  • Represent the organization in meetings, conferences, and events to enhance visibility and collaboration opportunities.
Project Management:

  • Oversee the end-to-end investment process for renewable energy projects or companies, coordinating with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful execution;
  • Monitor portfolio companies or project timelines, budgets, and performance metrics, providing regular updates to Virya management and other internal stakeholders.
Job requirements

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Renewable Energy, or related field;
  • Proven experience in investment management within the renewable energy sector, preferably at least 5-7 years;
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze complex financial data and models;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement;
  • Experience with investment processes, with a track record of successful project delivery;
  • Familiarity with renewable energy technologies, policies, and industry dynamics;
  • Knowledge of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations in the context of renewable energy projects;
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive and results-oriented mindset;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills;
  • Passion for sustainability and the transition to clean energy.
