For our EMEA team we are searching for an R&D Specialist (m/f/d).

A full time R&D Specialist position is open within the Healthcare Silicones research organization of DuPont Electronics & Industrial. This specialist joins the Healthcare Team as the full time scientist, located in Braine l’Alleud, Belgium. This facility serves as a Healthcare Technology Innovation Centre for EMEA.

This role requires a practicing knowledge of device fabrication methods, process development and lead process optimization including thermoset and thermoplastic material formulation, thin film coating, processes as well as supporting analysis methods. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to initiate collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams covering a wide spectrum of technology areas (such as Displays, Photonics, Biochemistry, MEMS integrated systems, etc.) Maintaining and implementing safe operation standards and procedures is a key element of this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply expertise in organic synthesis or polymer chemistry/physics to develop electrode/sensor materials and formulation.
  • Apply methodologies, measurement and modeling tools to simulate, characterize, and optimize material functions.
  • Resolve technology challenges through focused scientific methodology, multidisciplinary approach and innovative thinking.
  • Create and secure intellectual property for DuPont
Requirements
  • Hands-on fabrication of sensor/electrode device fabrication experience.
  • Lead product development projects for successful raw materials and process development from laboratory scale to high volume manufacturing scale
  • Characterize product and process performance
  • Ensure product development process framework is followed for transfer of products to manufacturing.
  • Conduct lab experiments, data analysis and documentation on findings
  • Lead cross-functional teams in problem solving, development of improvement plans and root cause analysis, including using DOE (design of experiments) tools.
  • Engage with customer to understand market trend
  • Actively participate in EH&S (environment, health and safety) programs to ensure high standard of safety.
  • Basic equipment troubleshooting skills
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Ability to work with various teams
Preferred Knowledge & Experience
  • Master Degree or Ph.D. (or Post-doc.) in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, and Material Science & Engineering
  • Verbal and written communication skills including technical writing and presenting in English.
  • Effective in team interactions with willingness to learn from peers.
  • Expertise in film coating methods, and pattern transfer, techniques.
  • Experience with various characterization methods- microscopy,
  • Ability to contribute to capital projects including facility upgrades and equipment installations or repairs.
