Senior Loan Sales Professional

VP/D, Full-time, Brussels


Your role & work environment

You will join the Financial Markets Distribution Sales Team to distribute loans and loan based products (primary, secondary and programmatic sales as well as setting up framework agreements) to our institutional investor community. By doing so, you will support our sectors and lending origination efforts.

As a team we are responsible for a unified and integrated investor coverage at up to CIO level, managing the relationship and loan sales transactions towards investors. Success is defined both by the number of well executed transactions and by the quality of market insight we can share with our internal stakeholders.

The Distribution Sales team is located across 5 global hubs (Amsterdam, Brussels, London, New York & Singapore). We work closely with our internal partners taking ownership of the sales strategy and execution of these transactions as well as providing them valuable market insight during the structuring and distribution process. We are also continuously aligned with our coverage partners to ensure the investor community receives a consistent ING experience. We report to the Global Head of Institutional Sales and Distribution.

Your key responsibilities

On a daily basis we manage relationships and transactions with investors and we provide market intelligence by mapping investor appetite to internal balance sheet management partners (Capital Velocity) and client facing sectors and lending teams. As a Loan Sales Professional you will actively contribute towards the team’s common goals by:

  • Distributing loan-based products – single loans, loan portfolios, credit-linked loans & securities, securitizations, future-flow partnerships, and other formats.
  • Managing investor relationships; helping increase overall volume of loan-based products, and expand distribution base spanning banks, insurers, asset managers, hedge funds, sovereign wealth, and other non-bank financial institutions.
  • Generating deep knowledge of investors’ needs and preference across asset characteristics and price hurdles, to be shared with internal stakeholders including Sectors and Lending teams to optimize the origination and portfolio management. Allocation of individual key investor accounts to facilitate increased dialogue, cultivate relationships, and develop reverse enquiries with these accounts.

  • Participating in full sales cycle for primary and secondary loan transactions. For primary, this includes soundings, roadshows, invitations and bookrunning, Q&A and documentation in order to successfully convert investors to commitments. For secondary, this includes managing reverse inquiries (with internal asset sourcing), investor clearance, execution, Q&A and post-trade service.
  • Acting as dedicated sector or product point of contact for specific sector(s), understanding ING’s origination capabilities, borrower base and distribution requirements in that sector. Advising Sector and Lending teams on salability and pricing of assets, ultimately contributing to steer ING”s origination activity by internally sharing distribution potential.
  • Closely and seamlessly cooperating with internal stakeholders (Structuring teams, Loan Capital Markets and Global Balance Sheet Distribution, Sectors, CPG, Loan Trading, FI Sales Origination, Financial Institutions). Facilitate direct client contact where required while maintaining oversight and overview of the overall client relation.

  • Attending client and industry events to position ING as Distribution bank and keep informed of key trends.
  • Facilitating and maintaining investor KYC/CDD requirements per ING standards.

  • You have a minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience working in sales of wholesale banking loan products and master both the commercial activity and the different processes.
  • You are fluent in English and speak at least one other language (French is a plus).
  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
