DescriptionSENIOR TAX SPECIALISTA successful candidate will work within our EMEA-I Tax team and will play an integral role in a wide range of tax projects for the benefit of various affiliates across the EMEA-I region. The position will have direct involvement and will be responsible for taking ownership of a broad range of projects including corporate tax compliance and tax advisory.Senior Tax Specialist - Initial responsibilities will include:You will be responsible for various affiliates across the EMEAI-region. Countries that are currently in scope of the EMEA-I region are Belgium, France, Germany, India, Israel, Poland Spain, Sweden, UAE and UK.Direct Tax Compliance- Determine CIT advance payments;
- Prepare/review corporate income tax returns;
- Prepare/review withholding tax returns;
- Manage withholding tax queries in the framework of double tax treaties;
- Coordinate with third party advisors with respect to the various tax compliance obligations across EMEA-I and function as intermediary with the internal accounting team in order to collect and analyse financial data;
- Monitoring tax compliance and tax reporting process of the foreign group entities and follow-up on their tax issues, in coordination with the local teams.
- Calculate tax provision for the monthly reporting;
- Performance of specific tax account reconciliations and general ledger accounts maintenance;
- Calculation of year-end provisions for income tax under US GAAP, completion of tax packages and tax memo’s, in close cooperation with global tax team;
- Optimizing overall tax reporting and forecasting (incl. tax accounting) processes.
- Assistance with annual audit preparations, and resolution of audit findings, account discrepancies or issues of non-compliance.
- Maintain constructive relationship with tax authorities;
- Ability to manage tax-related inquiries and examinations will be vital in ensuring compliance and minimizing any potential risks.
- Maintain transfer pricing documentation files for the various intercompany transactions across the EMEA-I region in close cooperation with global TP team;
- Prepare/review transfer pricing compliance filings.
- Working on research projects to supports complex tax positions and tax planning (including writing memorandums, reports and other business communication);
- Involvement in specific international tax projects such as PE, WHT, CbCR, Pillar 2, ATAD, sustainability and environmental taxes, in close cooperation with global tax team.
- Support with regard to/oversight of indirect taxes (ESG, VAT)
- Documenting and maintaining process tax documentation, continuous monitoring and consideration of opportunities for process documentation, process improvement and automation;
- Business integration – engagement with other departments to provide tax support for management decisions;
- Staying up to date on transfer pricing, international tax, indirect tax and internal business developments;
- Developing presentations for colleagues and other teams within the company.
- 5-7 years of relevant working experience, gained through work in the tax department of a multinational company and/or a tax consulting firm.
- Proven experience in Belgian tax & international regulations.
- Master’s degree in economics, finance, accounting or law; complemented with a master’s degree in taxation.
- Project management experience, able to coordinate and prioritize multiple and sometimes ambiguous projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion of projects while operating in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented individual who takes ownership of projects and possesses excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Well-developed, independent research skills, experience in research of tax laws, rules and regulations and application to specific scenarios required.
- Knowledge of US GAAP ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes is an asset.
- Fluent in English, proven business communication (oral and written), organization, self-directed/self-motivated and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop strong peer relationships in a dynamic and diverse team environment where teamwork is highly valued.
- Proficient in Excel and MS Office tools such as Word and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, data extraction and analysis tools is an asset.
- Located in Belgium or remote in Europe.
