Software Architecture Manager and Genomics SaaS

We are seeking a Software Architecture Manager to join the Genomics Software team and help develop our next generation, cloud-based clinical informatics software platform. The use of genetic data in routine clinical practice and clinical research is rapidly transforming healthcare - be part of the revolution! You have experience with complex enterprise or SaaS software, ideally in a regulated environment, have worked with agile software development processes, have a passion for quality, and possess strong communications skills. In addition to a breadth of technical skills and software architecture experience, as importantly, you have excellent people skills and can lead technical teams, collaborate with peers, management, and represent Genomics across business units in technical forums, helping a business that has traditionally focused on instrumentation systems, reagents, and desktop software understand the power of SaaS. This position will report to the Director of Genomics Software R&D.

Responsibilities Include:

• Build an aligned technical roadmap across software development teams, across geographies, on software architecture, technologies, interfaces, and development standard methodologies designing quality and security in from inception
• Work in conjunction with application software R&D teams aligning on design and architecture with a view for consistency and commonalities across product solutions
• Lead a technical team defining and executing on software platform roadmap, partnered with the software platform product manager ensuring technical solutions meet customer needs
• Engage in company-wide initiatives supporting SaaS solutions - technology alignment, architecture, interoperability
• Investigate collaboration opportunities within the company and with third parties that augment our solutions and accelerate our progress
• Lead engagements with our technology partners, including Amazon/AWS, identifying new technologies relevant for our solutions
• Stay abreast of bioinformatics and software community standards, formats and interchange technologies, driving standardization within the teams
• Stay on top of new software technologies, with an eye on technology obsolescence, ensuring products are kept up to date leveraging outstanding components
• Conduct proof of concepts for new technologies relevant to our customer use cases and solutions to feed to product roadmaps
• Help to educate the broader Genomics and Agilent community on the value of software solutions to the customer, and what it takes to build them optimally and efficiently
• Contribute to SDLC business process improvements, work instructions
• Identify and propose suitable development tools
• Coordinate with DevOps on deployment process/architecture
