System Architect for LAND systems

Location: Tubize, Belgium Thales people architect solutions at the heart of the defence-security continuum. Interoperable and secure information and telecommunications systems for defence, security, and civil operators, are based upon innovative use of radiocommunications, networks, and cybersecurity. Thales Belgium SA, Belgium competence center of Thales, is a company located on 2 sites, one in Tubize (near Brussels) and the other one in Herstal (near Liège). Thales Belgium, which employs more than 280 collaborators, is specialized in the design, development and supply of critical information systems for customers in the sectors of Defense, Security (including Cyber) and Aerospace.

Mission:

As part of the LAND engineering group of THALES Belgium, the System Architect for LAND systems will be the primary architect for the C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) solutions addressed to the local BELUX market.

The system architect will be the primary technical interface for customer and will ensure that the customer needs are taken into account during solutions & product development by THALES. He/She will ensure technical coherency between the projects and bids related to major customer accounts.

Main Responsibilities:

• Understand and analyse the customer operational concept (how customer deploys THALES solutions);
• Identify technical solutions and leads the architecture definition to meet the customer requirements ;
• Lead the technical roadmap definition of C4ISR soltutions for key customer accounts in order to ensure it fits main customer needs (interoperability,…)
• Main technical interface with the customer, cross project and bids;
• Bring state of the art expertise for C4ISR solutions, through past experience and continuous remain informed of market development;
• Take the lead in the system specifications process;
• Translate the customer business requirements into technical specifications and support the subcontractor choice for needed subsystem acquisition;
• Contribute to the technical documentation (High Level Design, Low Level Design, Configuration Documents, User Manuals, Testing plan);

Profile:

• Engineering degree in Electronics / Telecommunications;
• At least 5 years relevant experience in the development or deployment of defense C4ISR solutions.
• Technically passionate and curious for technologies. Based on his/her previous expertise in Defense C4ISR systems, he/she will be eager to discover new technologies.
• Good understanding and knowledge of radio systems, IT systems and IP networks.
• Knowledge / understanding of System engineering lifecycle and of the IVVQ process;
• Knowledge of cybersecurity solutions is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Fluent in French and/or Dutch; Fluent in English (professional capacity).
