Local Unit & Position Description:
Area Benelux & France is part of the Maritime Region West Europe consisting of a team of approximately 100 enthusiastic and committed employees taking care of a variety of Maritime technical services, that are delivered to our customers from five office locations (Rotterdam, Antwerp, Le Havre, Saint-Nazaire and Marseille).

Are you just starting your career and would you like to work in the maritime industry, then we are looking for you as a trainee to develop into the function of Ship Surveyor based in Antwerp. You will become a member of a highly qualified team serving the maritime industry and various ship types, calling at ports in Belgium.

Main job responsibilities are:
  • Perform surveys onboard ocean-going ships, together with highly experienced colleagues, for compliance with DNV Rules for Classification and statutory requirements;
  • Maintain the confidentiality of customers’ business, processes, designs, developments and documentation at all times.
  • Takes responsibility for own competence and career development and ensure that the appropriate authorisations are gained and are kept up to date.
  • Assist in service delivery improvement by communicating internal / external feedback as appropriate;

Position Qualifications:
  • A technical background applicable to the maritime industry;
  • Good communication skills in the English language, both verbal and in writing;
  • An independent, self-organized team player with a positive customer oriented mindset;
  • Asks for and acts on feedback to learn and improve;
  • In the possession of a valid drivers license and flexible to travel within Belgium and cross boarder;
  • Physical abilities necessary to perform regular functions of the job, such as climbing pilot ladders, tank inspections, crew boat launches, voyage surveys and flying;
  • Flexibility to work outside normal working hours, if the job requires.
