The Group Finance team is all about making the numbers work. We manage everything from budgets to balance sheets, keeping a close eye on how the company is performing financially. We make sure every euro is well spent, and we give the leadership team the insights they need to make smart, data-driven decisions. What You Will Be Doing:
In this position you will report directly to the Group Finance Director and will be working with numerous stakeholders, e.g. the Group Finance team, the country Finance teams, country Managers/Directors, other Group functions, and Group EXCOM.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Business Partnering & Performance Management
- Serve as a strategic business partner to country finance teams, local management, Group functions, and EXCOM, ensuring financial insights drive business decisions. You will be the linking pin between the business and finance community.
- Ensure the business control function operates within a sound control framework, with a focus on performance management.
- Manage group-wide planning processes, including business planning (as required), annual budgeting, and biannual forecasting.
- Co-responsibility for finance set-up: The Group Reporting Calendar, Group accounting policies, closing instructions, accounting manual (definitions of e.g. necessary data elements and KPIs) and ensure the relevant people understand and comply with it, an efficient reporting set-up, necessary reporting capabilities, and guidance and training to the countries/stakeholders.
- Support the monthly closing process of the group by reviewing whether business performance is correctly reflected in the financials: financial performance, KPIs, and key statistical data (e.g., volumes, revenue by commodity, customer disclosure, CAPEX, HC/FTE), ensuring accuracy and quality.
Management & EXCOM Support
- Facilitate the Monthly Business Review (MBR) process (participate in MBR meetings, maintain & develop reporting templates, review & challenge countries on their financial performance, provide MBR presentations to EXCOM).
- Support the Investment Committee Meeting (ICM) process by maintaining business case templates, offering guidance, and reviewing submissions.
- Act as the functional lead/super user for the BI management tool CXO (built on HFM), ensuring its maintenance, development, and training across stakeholders.
- Develop and enhance enterprise risk management initiatives.
Change Management & Operational Excellence
- Drive change across operational companies (OpCos), improving ERP and consolidation system efficiency.
- Enhance OPEX efficiency by supporting cost-saving initiatives, cost variabilization, and restructuring projects.
- Strengthen commercial data collection and analysis in collaboration with Group Commercial.
- Support operational excellence projects with Operations Support, including asset management, maintenance performance, and claims management.
Reporting Responsibilities
- Facilitate reporting to Management and EXCOM, ensuring timely and insightful financial analysis.
- Oversee monthly group financial results reporting.
- Support quarterly board meetings by preparing financial data for shareholders and lenders.
- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements for financial institutions.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.
Strategic Projects & Process Improvements
- Support business development and M&A initiatives.
- Lead efforts to enhance profitability analysis across operations, including customer, vessel, commodity, and service profitability.
- Contribute to the ongoing harmonization and improvement of financial reporting and decision-making processes.
Strong leadership and communication skills in English are essential, along with a proactive approach to best practices and financial process optimization. You will lead and contribute to projects that enhance financial analysis, internal and external reporting, and overall efficiency. What We Are Looking For:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as Group Business Controlling Manager. The ideal candidate will have:
Expertise:
- Strong financial and business controlling knowledge, with expertise in performance management, reporting, and compliance.
- Experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Familiarity with CAPEX analysis, investment evaluations, and enterprise risk management.
- Proficiency in financial systems, ERP solutions, and BI tools (CXO, HFM, etc.).
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in finance, controlling, or a related field, preferably in an international environment.
- Proven ability to work with senior management, finance teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience in change management, operational improvements, and financial process optimization.
- Background in M&A support, business development, and profitability analysis is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to drive financial performance and work cross-functionally.
- Hands-on with a proactive and results-driven mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
Education:
- A Bachelor or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFA) are advantageous.
