Context

In order to achieve and further optimize our challenging targets in the field of energy optimization and CO2 reduction, we are currently looking for an enthusiastic Group Energy Expert. Within this role you will have a key position to determine the vision on energy within the VPK Group. Outlining the guidelines, determining and following up the action plan.

Your function

Within the VPK Group you coordinate the entire energy/CO2 policy, you are responsible for internal and external communication and the resulting activities.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Managing Energy Contracts within VPK Group, offering support in the elaboration of quotations and contracts.
  • Manage Combined Head & Power (CHP) and Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) dossiers:
  • Checking monthly returns
  • Sales of energy certificates
  • Relationship with VEKA
  • Inspection of the installations
    • Realization of energy studies:
  • Follow up on energy audits
  • Feasibility studies, both technical and financial
  • Dimensioning studies
    • Propose an action plan in the field of energy improvement
    • Promoting energy efficiency & sustainability within the company
    • You monitor legislation and you draw up targeted actions in the event of any changes
    • Regular consultation with management on energy/CO2 policy is of course also part of this.
    • You will follow up the internal and external audits.
    • As an expert, you stay informed of all innovations in the field of energy and CO2 (maintaining contact with energy experts from other countries, exploring the market, ...). You make a selection of these in terms of feasibility for our company.
    • You are also responsible for the management of various energy projects.
    • You report the energy performance on a regular basis.
    • You work closely with the local energy teams
    • You report directly to the Group Energy Manager.

    Our expectations

    • You obtained a Civil Engineering degree in a relevant field of study.
    • Demonstrated Energy / CO2 experience for at least 7 years, ideally in a complex highly demanding industrial environment.
    • You already have several years of experience in the process industry and you have acquired the necessary knowledge and experience in building and maintaining management systems, developing feasibility studies and business cases.
    • You have the necessary People skills to get your colleagues involved in the further optimization of the energy policy.
    • You are communicative (both internally and externally), a motivator, a bridge builder and you work well together in a team.
    • You are driven to work, you are self-steering and willing to take responsibility
    • Up to speed on modern technologies and business systems
    • Business acumen to allow a fast context understanding and to create easy alignment with internal customers and suppliers
    • You speak and write Dutch, English and French fluently with internal staff, customers and external suppliers
