  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant public policy experience on issues pertaining to the electricity system and infrastructure policy. Experience working on energy regulation is essential.
  • Knowledge of the electricity industry in Europe and experience working within and around the industry is necessary.
  • English language – both written and verbal.
  • Ability to travel – primarily within Europe - as needed.

Electricity from the grid is powering AWS data centres across Europe and the AWS Cloud is powering the digitalisation of organisations that are working towards decarbonising the grid. Key job responsibilities
  • Develop and execute advocacy strategies that support energy and infrastructure development.
  • Manage policy priorities and lead engagements with European electricity policymaking organizations, such as ACER, ENTSO-E, the European Commission, and TSOs, and National Regulatory Authorities.
  • Deepen relationships with external stakeholders and experts to identify opportunities and risks arising from policy and regulatory developments.
  • Work closely with internal business partners to craft and contribute to policy submissions and engage in consultations with relevant regulators.
  • Contribute to energy policy advocacy efforts within AWS including coordinating and developing public policy collateral such as policy position papers and talking points.
  • Provide expert advice to internal business partners and assist them in developing their respective business strategies.
  • Travel within Europe as needed
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Brussels, BRU, BEL

  • Demonstrated expertise in transmission systems, eelectricity markets, and energy regulation, paired with a passion for innovative thinking about sustainability, energy, and infrastructure policy development.
  • Strong understanding of organisations involved in energy policymaking across Europe.
  • Experience managing a team of international energy policy experts working across different jurisdictions.
  • Proven record of successful collaboration with industry groups, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
  • Excitement for new energy technologies and emerging carbon free solutions for the power sector.
  • Background working with complex coalitions, building stakeholder groups, and coordinating across matrixed organizations.
  • Demonstrated expertise explaining complex subjects to a wide variety of audiences, public speaking experience is a plus.
  • Strong written communication skills with a background writing on policy issues for non-policy readers.
  • A self-starter that has created, led, and driven innovative projects from concept to conclusion.
  • Proven team player that has worked in roles that require coordination across various teams to achieve success.
  • Additional European language skills is a plus.
