Role Overview

This position will be responsible for cGMP operations for Clinical and Commercial Cell Therapy Manufacturing. This individual will partner Technical Operations with other functions to produce a personalized cell therapy through safe and compliant manufacturing operations according to cGMP requirements. This individual will support the operations organization build, operations ramp-up of clinical production and facility approval of a state of the art cell therapy facility for commercial launch and sustained production. The role will require proven leadership to drive effective communication, coordination and collaboration across relevant cross functional groups to ensure robust production, testing and release of product to patients.

Overzicht rol

Hoofd Operaties, Celtherapiefaciliteit is verantwoordelijk voor cGMP-activiteiten voor klinische en commerciële celtherapieproductie. Deze persoon zal Technische Operaties doen samenwerken met andere functies om een gepersonaliseerde celtherapie te produceren door middel van veilige en conforme productieactiviteiten volgens de cGMP-vereisten. Deze persoon ondersteunt de opbouw van de operationele organisatie, de verhoging van de activiteiten voor klinische productie en de goedkeuring van een ultramoderne celtherapiefaciliteit voor commerciële lancering en duurzame productie. De rol vereist bewezen leiderschap om doeltreffende communicatie, coördinatie en samenwerking tussen relevante functieoverschrijdende groepen aan te drijven om een robuuste productie, testen en productvrijgave aan patiënten te garanderen.

Major Responsibilities

• Leads, directs, coaches and develops an effective operations team for daily clinical production and strategically prepares for commercial supply of a CAR-T product
• Promotes a collaborative work environment focused on an EHS first mindset, a Right First Time culture of quality, permanent inspection readiness compliance mindset and passionately drives continuous improvement
• Provides technical and managerial leadership in area of responsibility by effectively interfacing and collaborating with key stakeholders and functions
• Directs daily operations and supports activities to enable timely, successful disposition of product for patients
• Leads and actively participates in all regulatory and internal audits of the facility
• Oversees the hiring, development, and performance management of team
• Develops metrics to drive team results in areas of EHS, quality, compliance, cost, delivery and people

Hoofdverantwoordelijkheden

• Leidt, begeleidt, coacht en ontwikkelt een doeltreffend operatieteam voor dagelijkse klinische productie en bereidt zich strategisch voor op de commerciële levering van een CAR-T-product
• Bevordert een samenwerkende werkomgeving die gericht is op het eerst plaatsen van EHS, een cultuur van ’Goed de Eerste Keer’ inzake kwaliteit, een mentaliteit van permanente inspectiegereedheid, en heeft de passie om continue verbetering aan te drijven
• Biedt technisch en managementleiderschap op het verantwoordelijkheidsgebied door effectief te communiceren en samen te werken met belangrijke belanghebbenden en functies
• Stuurt dagelijks werk aan en ondersteunt activiteiten om tijdige, succesvolle beschikbaarheid van het product voor patiënten mogelijk te maken
• Leidt en neemt actief deel aan alle regelgevende en interne audits van de faciliteit
• Houdt toezicht op de werving, de ontwikkeling en het prestatiebeheer van het team
• Ontwikkelt statistieken om teamresultaten te stimuleren op het gebied van EHS, kwaliteit, naleving, kosten, levering en mensen

Requirements

• B.Sc./M.Sc. in Biological/Biochemical Science/Bioengineering related field
• Minimally 10+ years of combined experience in cGMP manufacturing, operations management, tech transfer, process and equipment validation and quality management, with a preference for cell therapy experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role in Biologics and/or cell therapy operations
• Demonstrated ability to build effective and efficient teams and drive change within an organization
• Experience in a growth environment managing the fast pace of change, balancing day to day operational demands with the need to extend and improve the planning horizon to prepare for tomorrow
• A history of developing and building cohesive, high performing teams with a strong sense of mission, providing training and mentoring to build sufficient management depth throughout the organization and ensure strong succession planning
• Communicates effectively with people at all levels, including the ability to understand their priorities, and to earn their respect and trust, along with the willingness to provide them with the best decisions in time-sensitive situations
• Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, challenging, entrepreneurial and team-oriented environment

Kwalificaties

• B.Sc./M.Sc. op het gebied van biologische/biochemische wetenschap/biotechniek of verwant veld
• Minstens 10+ jaar gecombineerde ervaring in cGMP-productie, operationeel beheer, technologische overdracht, proces- en apparatuurvalidatie en kwaliteitsbeheer, met een voorkeur voor ervaring in celtherapie
• Minstens 5 jaar ervaring in een leidende rol in operaties inzake biologische middelen en/of celtherapie
• Bewezen vermogen om doeltreffende en efficiënte teams op te bouwen en verandering binnen een organisatie aan te drijven
• Ervaring in een groeiende omgeving met het beheren van het snelle tempo van verandering, waarbij de dagelijkse operationele vereisten worden afgewogen tegen de noodzaak om de planningshorizon te verlengen en te verbeteren om zich voor te bereiden op de toekomst
• Een geschiedenis van het ontwikkelen en opbouwen van samenhangende, goed presterende teams met een sterk gevoel voor hun missie, het bieden van training en mentoring om voldoende managementdiepte in de gehele organisatie op te bouwen en te zorgen voor een sterke opvolgingsplanning
