Within BASF Seeds and Traits R&D, Pest Control teams identify and validate trait solutions to protect agriculture crops against damage from insect and nematode species. Disease Control teams identify and validate trait solutions that protect crops against damage caused by microbes and viruses.

Responsibilities

The unit IP Intelligence within the Global Intellectual Property Services supports BASF worldwide along the entire innovation chain with professional scientific, technical, and patent related information analyses. Our service portfolio encompasses everything from identifying trends to classic IP research and complex landscape analyses and technology studies.

This is your task package-

• As a member of the group Bioscience Information, you work as a global point of contact for professional information focusing on biotechnology, genetics, breeding and digital technologies for our business units Agricultural Products.
• Right from the very first day, you are involved in our research and development projects, and support those with relevant information for business and research.
• Furthermore, you work closely with the patent department and the operating divisions, providing patent searches and IP analyses as basis of patent opinions (FTO) and to safeguard future fields of business.
• You prepare analyses of technologies and competitors to support our research and business units in the strategic decision-making process.
• Working within interdisciplinary project teams, you develop technologies to optimize the management of information and shape the future information services for BASF.

QUALIFICATIONS

• You have an above-average degree in natural science (e.g., biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, genetics, breeding) and ideally earned a doctorate.
• You have a solid understanding of industrial research and development as well as professional experience in the field of Agricultural Biotechnology.
• Knowledge and skills relating to professional scientific information analysis and basic knowledge about patents are preferable.
• A good understanding of digital (breeding) technologies is a plus.
• You are able to work independently and on your own responsibility as well as to familiarize yourself with new tasks.
• You have strong communication skills and ability to develop innovative solutions.
