Field supervisor mechanical

We are a growing company specialising in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of rotating industrial machinery, both electrical and mechanical. These include electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, generators, steam turbines, turbochargers, piston compressors and expanders. We operate at the customer’s premises or in one of our sites.

We are now looking for a supervisor who will be in charge of the service technicians in Ghent. His employees go on site to overhaul machines at the customer’s or - if more thorough maintenance is required - to dismantle them so that maintenance or repair of the machine can be done in the workshop. The supervisor ensures a good working climate in which the employees are motivated to work in order to achieve the proposed objectives.

What needs to be done?

• You monitor the progress and quality of the work within the field team of Ghent

• You coach your co-workers and take care of updating and maintaining their required knowledge

• You check correct implementation of procedures, rules and permits

• You assess the commitment and quality of your co-workers in relation to their tasks and responsibilities

• If necessary, you employ additional personnel and subcontractors and monitor the quality of the supervision of outsourced activities

• You ensure a safe and healthy working environment within the maintenance service with attention to well-being and the environment

• You arrange periodic toolbox meetings or are responsible for supervising them

• You will also correct assemblers, technicians and subcontractors with regard to technical and HSE policy

• You will consult with the customer on a daily basis

• You take care of the necessary administration such as timely and correct filling out of time sheets and reporting to your immediate superior and your client; You also inform the management team when requested

• Your work is always precise and you are strong in organising your own work

• You can handle variable work pressure with sporadic overtime and weekend work

• You always strive to work safely and value quality

• You have a degree of higher secondary education in a technical direction (or equivalent through experience)

• You have a broad theoretical technical knowledge in the field of pumping techniques

• You have knowledge of rotating machines (steam turbines, pumps, gearboxes, compressors, etc.)

• You have also gained experience in the alignment of directly coupled machines

• Do you have a basic knowledge of mounting and dismounting bearings? That is a plus

• You have experience in managing people

• You do not have a 9-5 mentality if the work at a customer’s is delayed or if certain matters are expected at the weekend

• You have a driving licence B

• You can express yourself well in dutch and preferably also in english

• You can work with the most common software systems (Outlook, Word, Excel)
