Job Description

You will be part of the purchasing team spread across Europe. You’ll be responsible for the CAPEX purchases mostly industrial projects. You will be based in Louvain-la-Neuve and you will report to the EU CAPEX Category Manager based in Belgium.

YOUR CHALLENGE

Part of Carmeuse Europe Central Purchasing Team, main missions will be:
  • Support EU Capex Category manager in executing EU Capex Purchasing strategy and leading negotiations concerning capital technical purchases (materials & services) linked to industrial projects (green & brownfields) always taking into account the price, quality, delivery lead time and TCO concept
  • Work directly with the project team (operations, engineering, CAPEX management) to ensure suppliers understand company requirements and can deliver as needed. Report status to the team and provide solutions to delivery and/or quality issues
  • The interface between suppliers and Carmeuse production sites when and where needed
  • Perform supplier audits (including, but not limited to obtaining a general impression of supplier’s workshop or production facilities, equipment condition, condition of the information procedure and operating systems, quality management, delivery reliability, employee qualification… )
  • Receive and review Scopes of Work and Specifications from Carmeuse’s Project Leaders, challenge when seen fit
  • Manage SAP purchase Requisitions linked to its projects and any other P2P actions (supplier creation request, invoicing management, down payment, bank guarantee) linked to its scope
  • Contracting: contract draft preparation, securing internal contract review, approval by all relevant stakeholders according to Carmeuse Grant of Authorities (including legal check), contract signing and distribution to the respective area purchasing team(s) and Project Leaders (in case of Capex)
  • Ensure quick and reliable resolution of supplier issues, improving the overall supplier performance throughout the course of each transaction
  • Execution of the tasks in a timely manner, according to the project schedule
  • Technical scope: refurbishment and modification of installations, repair of installations, new equipment, civil work, erection services (mechanical & electrical)
  • Improve and share purchasing best practices through all areas
  • Obtain market and hard savings according to Carmeuse goals
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education
  • Minimum a Master’s Degree in Purchasing. Engineering / Technical background is a plus
Experience
  • At least one experience in industrial Purchasing (significant internship included) ideally in CAPEX/industrial services would be appreciated but not mandatory
Professional Skills
  • A good understanding of the technical aspects & manufacturing process of heavy industry is important
  • Knowledge in negotiations and contract management (contract drafting, negotiation and follow up)
  • Full professional proficiency in English and French. Any other language is a plus.
  • Computer skills required (Excel, PPT, SAP knowledge is a plus)
  • International experience or long trip abroad is a plus
  • Ability to travel through Belgium and Europe according to needs
