Spectricity incorporated in 2018, as a spin-off from imec, a leading R&D center in nanoelectronics and digital technologies in Belgium. Spectricity develops low-cost, miniaturized, multispectral sensing solutions with the mission to enable applications in high-volume consumer and industrial devices. These fields include wearables, smartphones, security and automotive, and multispectral sensing in the field of biomedical health, smart gardening, color sensing, food analysis, smart object recognition.

Within our dynamic, multidisciplinary and growing team of technologists, hardware/software engineers and application experts, we are looking for a Junior System Engineer who is eager to learn and contribute to the design and development of our next-generation optical sensing solutions.

Your Main Responsibilities

As a Junior System Engineer, you will support the development of our multispectral sensing products. You will be coached by experienced engineers while gradually taking ownership of tasks such as:

  • Gaining an understanding of the customer’s system and application use case
  • Supporting the definition of system and product requirements
  • Assisting in the simulation and design of optical-electrical components (e.g., lenses, filters, sensors)
  • Participating in implementation and debugging of prototypes
  • Collaborating with internal teams (R&D, Software, Test&Characterization, Algorithms, Project Management)
  • Helping document and communicate technical specifications
  • Contributing to internal technical discussions and roadmap input

Your Profile, Skills, And Talents

  • You have a Master’s degree in Engineering, Applied Sciences, Physics or a related field
  • You have a strong interest in optical systems, sensors, and integrated technologies
  • Experience with FDTD simulators – especially Lumerical – is considered a strong asset
  • You are curious, analytical and eager to build up technical expertise
  • You are fluent in English and communicate clearly in a multidisciplinary setting
  • You enjoy working in a collaborative environment and are open to feedback

This is an ideal role for a motivated graduate or early-career engineer who wants to grow into a full System Engineering position with guidance and support.
