Functieomschrijving:In the framework of the study program of the Royal Higher Institute of Defense, we are looking for a full-time researcher with a degree in biomedical sciences.
The Higher Institute of Defense in Brussels in collaboration with the Military Hospital in Brussels is launching the SINGLE-R study: a new rabies vaccine trial in a healthy population.
Study:
The past few years the team of the Military Hospital in Brussels, together with the support of the Institute of Tropical Medicine of Antwerp, carried out different clinical trials on alternative intradermal vaccine schedules with microdosisses of existing rabies vaccines. This data greatly influenced the new WHO guidelines in 2018 in simplifying the rabies pre-exposure vaccine schedules. This SINGLE-R study is an new open-label non-inferiority trial to assess the immunogenicity and safety of an intradermal and an intramuscular single-visit dosing regimen of
purified chick-embryo cell-culture rabies vaccine in adults.
Context:
You work within the Center for Infectious Diseases at the Military Hospital in Brussels in close collaboration with the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp.
The Queen Astrid Military Hospital in Brussels is recognized as the reference hospital for service provision of Belgian military personnel deployed overseas. It conducts research in the field of tropical medicine, infectious diseases and vaccinology.

You reinforce and assist the site trial team and work closely with the doctors, nurses and study coordinators of the unit in the preparation of The SINGLE-R trial.

You help the conduct of this clinical trial (e.g. initiation of studies, patient procedures including informed consent process, clinical evaluation of trial participants, collection of clinical data in (electronic) case report forms, etc.) and this in close collaboration with the principal investigator of the trial.

You ensure the follow-up, reporting and interpretation of potential side effects in collaboration with the pharmacovigilance team of the study sponsor.

Aside your primary role in the preparation and process management of clinical trial, you could also be involved in other clinical research activities, and depending on your background and interests.

You support interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers (inter)nationally.
Profiel:
Required skills
- You have a master degree in biomedical sciences or another degree in medical sciences. A PhD degree is an asset.
- You have experience in infectious diseases.
- You have experience in clinical research in healthy volunteers and/or patients.
- You have excellent knowledge of Office applications; experience with electronic data management systems is a plus.
- You hold a recent ICH-GCP certificate.
- You have an excellent active knowledge of Dutch, French and English.
- You are a team player and have good communication skills.
- You are eager to learn and you can work independently.
- You have an eye for detail and you are well organized.
Contract
•
Probable date of recruitment:
From 1 Nov 2021, in consultation with the applicant.
•
Status: Full-time employment (38 hors / week) based on an open-ended contract with the Patrimony of the Royal Military Academy (you will not be a civil servant).
The financing of this contract is tied to the SINGLE-R project, which lasts until 31/12/2024. As a result, the collaboration will end when the project will be over. However, if additional funds are available, we can continue the collaboration.

Wage scale: A11 (holders of a Master Degree).
•
The usual workplace is the Queen Astrid Military Hospital in Brussels.
