Purpose of the job

Barco’s finance department has a strong reputation inside and outside Barco. Barco’s EMEA accounting team is looking for a (Senior) GL Accountant to strengthen the finance team in Kortrijk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in a team of (GL) accountants managed by the EMEA Finance Director, who you will be reporting to
  • Coordinate the month-end closing process in line with the Barco closing calendar & checklist, taking into consideration key policies & procedures
  • Can interpret & perform more complex accounting transactions and support your peer accountants and accounting administrators
  • Perform periodic account reconciliations and take ownership for the balance sheet for a set of companies in EMEA
  • Preparation of local GAAP annual accounts and appendices and able to interact with international accounting firms.
  • Act as a sparring partner for the Finance Business Partners and controllers.
  • Prepare the quarterly and yearly consolidation package and liaise with the consolidation team
  • Support in the preparation of internal and external audits
  • Are improvement driven and willing to participate & support in further digital automation projects in the Accounting/Finance domain.
  • Are not afraid to challenge the status-quo and propose changes and process standardization
  • Represent the accounting domain in various meetings with internal stakeholders of different functions/departments.
  • Coordinate the preparation of accounting policies and follow up on IFRS guidelines

Your profile
  • Bachelors/Master’s degree in accounting and gained a profound experience
  • 4-7 years experience in a relevant function, accounting firm is a plus
  • Fluent in Dutch & a good English knowledge (company’s main language)
  • Eager to stay up to date with accounting trends and own development
  • Systems and process savvy, good Excel knowledge is a must; SAP experience is a plus
  • Interested in detailed analysis, while keeping a helicopter view
  • Can deal with complexity, can prioritize, and able to manage & respect corporate deadlines
  • You are hands-on, no-nonsense approach
