For our client CommScope we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Architect.

CommScope is a global market leader and a trensetting company within the fast growing telecom industry.

The Leuven site houses the R&D department for outside plant solutions, specialized in optical fibre management and sealing technologies.

Your job:

• As a senior mechanical engineer, you will take the lead in the mechanical development of new modular product families for outside plant.
• You will be part of the architectural team and focus on the predevelopment stage (developing and validating concepts).
• You will be part of a multidisciplinary project teams and work closely with technical product leaders, CAD designers and test engineers.
• Within an R&D project you will be responsible for defining the technical requirements, developing different concepts, proof of concept and prototyping, FEM analysis, etc.
• As a Sr. Mechanical engineer, you will be mainly coordinating and guiding. You will effectively design in PTC Creo for around 30% of your time.
• You will have customer contact to understand customers’ needs and present concepts (travel +- 10%).
• You will perform feasibility studies.

Your profile:

• Master in product development or Master (electro)mechanical engineering.
• We are looking for a seasoned mechanical engineer. You can build on an extensive experience in mechanical design (10-15 years).
• You excel in conceptual design thinking. Creative and out of the box thinking.
• Experience in 3D CAD Modelling, preferably Creo (or willing to learn).
• Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes (design for manufacturing), especially for plastic injection molded and metal stamped parts.
• Basic knowledge of materials (i.e. properties of plastics) is a plus.
• Knowledge Lean Six Sigma, DOE (design of experiments) analysis, Monte Carlo Analysis, statistical tolerance modeling, GD&T.
• Very good knowledge of English, Dutch is a plus.
• Skills & Personality:

o Able to identify, break down and solve a variety of difficult technical problems.
