Senior Software Engineer for Medical Devices

The Customer Software, Clinical and Research Platforms department is currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer based in our location in Mechelen.

The Senior Software Engineer is to become part of a cross-functional team working on the next generation software platform that will be used by future hearing solutions. This software platform is developed as a joint effort by different teams in Europe, and will set the basis of how interaction between implants, sound processors, and fitting software will look in the next decade in Cochlear.

You will be responsible for designing, developing and unit testing code in C# and C++, that provides communication with cochlear implants and hearing aids through software drivers written in C++.

Key Responsibilities:

• Understand the proposed architecture and contribute as needed to assure flawless interaction with cochlear implants and hearing aids
• Develop, prototype and verify software libraries developed in C#, as well as interfacing with the functionalities implemented in firmware and other software libraries. Also, when needed, contribute to development of software libraries in C++
• Contribute to engineering analysis activities including brainstorming, concept generation, risk analysis, and design reviews
• Collaborate to an open and effective communication between firmware, software and system team-members involved in the project

Key requirements:

To add value to Cochlear in this role you’ll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• University degree in software or software engineering
• Passionate developer with >5 years working with C#. Knowledge of C++ and managed C++
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a full cycle commercial software development environment
• Familiar with Agile development
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English
