Associate Research Scientist in R&D

Job description summary

You will join the R&D team to work on innovation projects on one hand, and to handle customer, production or technical support requests on the other. More particularly, under the supervision of a senior scientist, you will be involved in the development of new products, processes or commercial applications within our Biomedical segment.

Area of responsibility and related tasks

• Carry out lab scale productions of new product developments.
• Execute prototype production process optimization and improvement.
• Execute and write development reports (in English) for internal stakeholders to facilitate translation to a bigger production scale.
• Execute a variety of biochemical and biophysical methodologies/assays relevant to the afore mentioned tasks, and to customer and technical support requests.
• Critical data analysis and interpretation

Position Requirements

Qualifications

- Bachelor or Master in the field of Industrial Engineering (Bio)chemistry, Bio-engineering, process engineering or equivalent.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• A thorough understanding of production processes and their translation from lab-to-production scale in the (bio)chemical industry.
• Knowledge of analytical and characterization techniques like HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, SEC, multi-well plate assays, SDS-PAGE
• Writing and computer skills relevant to recording original data as well as creating procedures and reports to communicate with team members and other stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a R&D environment with rapidly changing priorities and stringent deadlines.
• Fluency in English

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Hands on experience or knowledge of industrial processes in the field of biochemistry, polymer industry and/or pharmaceutical industry.
• Thorough understanding of protein chemistry, protein handling, purification and characterization.
• Practical knowledge on Statistics
