As a Buyer Underwriter, you will be part of the Risk Services Team, manage the credit risk involved in a portfolio of Belgian & Luxembourg companies, monitor developments in the trade sector and work in an international environment.

Description

  • Responsible for approving new coverages and assessing the risks of potential new coverages;
  • You will apply underwriting principles and procedures when the company is considering accepting new risks or modifying existing contracts/clients;
  • Managing standard and/or non-standard risk portfolios (e.g. in a structured finance environment);
  • You will apply analyst knowledge and principles to identify and manage portfolio risk exposure;
  • You are responsible for defining the underwriting strategy for each known buyer group/customer/sector portfolio/risk class/customer/holding company;
  • You are responsible for setting standard limits for final assessments and establishing and maintaining risk scores/ratings for buyers within delegated authority;
  • You are responsible for ensuring compliance with internal procedures, including the recording of decisions for use by both internal and external customers;
  • You will be responsible for overseeing the development of the portfolio and the change of approach to buyer risk management in the assessment of risk;
  • Ensures proactive action is taken to offset economic upturns or downturns on a market, sector or industry basis;
  • Proactively manages risk through meetings with portfolio companies;
  • Reactive analysis of risks;
  • Networking with banks/trade sector federations/stakeholders for exchange of high quality information;
  • Providing information and advice.

Your profile

  • Initial experience in financial analysis is a plus;
  • Strong responsiveness, solid independence and rigorous logical reasoning;
  • Technical competencies, analytical and drafting skills;
  • Working within a team;
  • Customer focused;
  • Ability to be recognized as an interlocutor for CEO/CFO with buying or insuring companies;
  • Solution oriented;
  • Good language skills: Dutch, French and English.
