Skills, knowledge, experience required:
  • Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 2 years of post‐related experience;
  • OR a secondary educational qualification with 4 years of post‐related experience;
  • Formal technical or professional certification, complemented with training in network management, system monitoring, software packaging and/or software development or equivalent through extensive professional experience;
  • Very good general working knowledge of IT hardware and auxiliary computer equipment, such as printers and scanners;
  • Experience in Configuration Management and Service Asset Management;
  • Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements;
  • Recent experience with NATO Secret/Unclassified systems, particularly with imaging, set‐up, and desk deployments.
Duties/role:
  • Integrating the software packages provided by the NCIA;
  • Containing only the components provided by the NCIA and no other components regardless of their nature (e.g. drivers, settings, applications, scripts, firmware, BIOS) are permitted;
  • Providing physical inspection of the hardware items for visible damage (screen broken, etc…) and will not deploy the baseline in case of any physical damage this is to be immediately reported to the local CSU staff;
  • Configuring BIOS settings as provided by NCIA prior to the deployment of the baseline;
  • Deploying the Client device baseline to the laptops and workstations;
  • Ensuring that the deployment for each device has been completed free of any errors or defects and producing and providing a log/report for each hardware asset;
  • Unpacking and disposing packaging of all the end user equipment in scope MARCOM (CSU Mons areas);
  • Assembling the end user equipment following the manufacturers’ guidance and NCIA (specifically CSU staff) direction (e.g. minimum required distance from other equipment, etc.) using the cables provided with the equipment. The installation will follow NATO EMSEC, physical security policies and installation standards, this information will be provided by the NCIA to the contractor at least 10 working days prior to arrival onsite;
  • Connecting the end user equipment in a fully functional work position, including existing workstation/laptop peripheral equipment where applicable (e.g. KVM switches, media converters, etc.) and cabling (not including printers or label writer devices);
  • Assisting with asset and configuration management activities (i.e. capturing asset details, port numbers and desk configuration, recording these and passing these onto CSU staff, in accordance with local guidance);
  • Performing:
  • Functionality tests showing all the equipment is connected as required (e.g. monitor, keyboard, mouse, and network LED indicator activity), completing and providing a checklist report for each work position;
  • Functionality tests (e.g. login with a temporary account) that ensure the previous steps in this work package are completed successfully;
  • Ensuring:
  • The equipment is connected to the correct network classification;
  • The logical computer names are configured as required;
  • Using provided credentials, joining the laptops and workstations to the respective network domains;
  • Producing and providing a report/checklist for each laptop and workstation;
  • Installing and configuring for use, COTS software on workstations/laptops;
  • Installing and configuring network client software on workstations/laptops;
  • Configuring upon request, local server software and configuring special peripheral devices;
  • Creating, maintaining and troubleshooting workstation/laptop issues;
  • Preparing software packages for automatic deployment;
  • Testing software for dependencies prior to installation;
  • Contributing to IT Security compliance and remediation.
