About Research & Development

The nature of research and development means that we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new ideas. Which is where you come in.

What you will be doing

• As a Lab Lead you are responsible for leading, developing and coaching the employees in your section (10-20 people)
• You prepare the operational planning of your team, based on the available resources
• You actively work on optimal cooperation, good understanding and harmony within your team and within the Analytical Competence Center organization, and you ensure the necessary communication and information flow to and from the team
• You work closely with your executive manager and your fellow lab leads in the areas of people management, operational planning and analytical projects
• You support the employees with the necessary expertise and technical knowledge of your section, more specifically in the field of material and powder characterization
• As a project leader, you are responsible for specific projects (e.g. installation and commissioning of devices, method development within your domain of competence). You are always looking for continuous improvements within your department.
• You provide the necessary attention to active safety leadership. You show exemplary behavior in carrying out, raising awareness about and monitoring compliance with regards to quality regulations, environmental, health and safety measures.
• Your objective is to always provide high-quality results and/or a qualitative answer to the questions of our research partners
• You are proactive in recognizing, defining and formulating a research project together with our research partners in the field of analytical support

Who we are looking for

• You have a Bachelor/Master in Materials Science, Geology or Chemistry with at least 5 years of practical experience in material and/or powder characterization
• You have a proven record in people management and in organizing a team
• You are curious and a true problem solver within a scientific context
• You are social and communicative strong
• You have attention and respect for quality, safety and the environment
• You have a very good knowledge of Dutch and English
