Our HQ Team in Leuven is home-base for 60+ engineers and scientists working on next-generation optical food sorting platforms. We are currently looking for a Software Engineer to join our Technology team to improve and further develop our existing products by:

• Developing new features and functions
• Researching and/or improving sorting algorithms
• Tackling end-of-life issues (on software stacks/platforms and hardware components)
• Squash bugs
• Increasing software performance (tight timing budgets)
• Updating and/or creating new Windows OS images

We design and manufacture sensor-based sorting machines and integrated post-harvest solutions for the food industry, using the world’s most advanced grading, sorting, peeling, and analytical technology. To achieve this, we operate centers of excellence, regional offices, and manufacturing locations within the United States, Europe, South America, Asia, Africa and Australasia.

You are pragmatical, analytical and have a hands-on mentality.

You enjoy seeing technology at work and have a broad interest in developing and maintaining software in different languages and software stacks.

You are comfortable communicating on an international level.

Also required:

• Relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience
• Excellent level of English, both verbal and written
• Availability for international travel occasionally
• Previous experience as a software engineer ideally with industrial product businesses
• Strong knowledge and proven track record in the following languages/frameworks:

-C and C++ (C++98 and up)

-Qt (v 4.8 and up)

-Linux (e.g. Xubuntu/Debian or similar)

-Programming/emulating/debugging embedded devices

-Git (source control)

• Knowledge and experience with the following languages/frameworks/protocols is considered a big plus:

-General electronics skills (using oscilloscope/JTAG)

-VisualDSP (Analog Devices)

-SPI (serial pheripheral interface)

-UART (universal asynchronous receiver transmitter)

-TCP (transmission control protocol)

-LWIP (light weight internet protocol)

-Image processing and algorithms
