Enable our clients to cure and treat genetic, rare, and otherwise untreatable diseases through our leading and groundbreaking Cell and Gene Therapy business by elevation of the program management organization. The Sr Manager, Program Management is a solution provider to Viral Vector Services (VVS) customers, ensuring value creation and customer expectations are balanced with an outstanding customer experience while ensuring Thermo Fisher’s business needs are optimized while leading a team of 6+ professional program managers (PM). Do this through building and acquiring talent as well as standards and process. What will you do?
- Maintains ongoing responsibility over all aspects of customer project management in Belgium facilities.
- Holds key position on site leadership team and works across global network to support integration of processes and standards.
- Ensures strong foundational business relationships exist with clients with respect to building and executing growth and governance strategy.
- Lead 6+ PM’s who own project(s) within a matrix organization including upstream and downstream Drug Substance process transfer, Final Formulation and Fill Finish processes for Drug Product transfer, analytical method transfers and qualification, equipment purchases and qualification, and coordinating the preparation for, execution of and close out of manufacturing batches.
- Ensures client leadership and advocacy across execution of business placing tension where we need to ensure client centricity
- Ensures process and tools for governance models, customer dashboards including key performance measures, Practical Process Improvement (PPI) partnership approaches, costing, risk mitigation strategies, etc. are in place.
- Participate in weekly reporting and business review meetings to facilitate decision-making on issues relating to business expansion, resource alignment and customer service issues.
- Collaborates with financial management staff to assure accurate, timely reporting, agreed upon timelines, review of monthly revenue recognition, and scope of service. Drives demand management of firm outlook as well as future forecasting both of which are important measures of this position and the PM organization overall.
- Supports evaluation and progression of system integration for effective program management (enterprise program management tools) communication.
- Supports integration and adoption of the corporate Customer Experience Management program for Belgium VVS sites.
- Continues to upgrade and develop program leadership (PMs) to ensure that we are able to effectively support risk & upsell services; delight the client through strategic program leadership; and drive financial growth for PSG.
- Exercises consistent independent judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for acquiring solutions.
- Availability to travel 0-25% of the time as circumstances require.
Supervision
This role is responsible to set meaningful departmental goals and lead to team to aligned work practices across sites. You will guide the growth and development of professional program management leaders. It is essential to engage, mentor, enable outstanding performance while identifying, attracting, motivating and retaining outstanding talent at all levels within the PM team! The leader needs to form the team with an eye for succession.
How will you get here?
- 10+ years of industry experience and must possess Biologics and/or Contract Pharmaceutical Manufacturing experience
- At least 5 years of experience in a direct Program Management role.
- At least 8 years of related experience in technical leadership roles
- Preferred 1-3 years of experience in a people leader role. Experience leading a PMO desired.
- Must have a technical background in GMPs and development processes
- Prior client-facing role strongly preferred
- Routine use of MS Project, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word is needed.
- Certification (Lean or Six Sigma) is helpful; Process Improvement mindset is a must
