Technology Expert - Information System

For one of our clients in Brussels, we are looking for a Technology Expert with expertise in information systems development and delivery.

Languages:ENG (mandatory) and Dutch/ French (Good to have)

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for go-live activities.
• Deploy new releases, executing all the necessary steps (e.g. WebLogic and Tomcat deployment, database updates and backups) in pre-production and production environments. Work as appropriate on deployment automation.
• Troubleshoot the technical issues in all our environments (including production priority one issues).
• Develop, maintain and continuously improve operational procedure to ensure the smooth running of information systems.
• Producing and reviewing technical documentation.
• Performing monitoring tasks (reactive and proactive), including defining metrics and reporting on results.
• Interfacing with the hosting provider; provisioning; following-up migrations.
• Contribute to the improvement of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment tools.
• Participate in technical working groups, progress meetings, and other project meetings, including with member states technical representatives

Requirements:

• Proven experience in application monitoring, reporting and other aspects around operations of deployed systems.
• Proven experience in Release management: deployment and operation of new releases, including coordination activities with key stakeholders, where necessary. * * Knowledge in the management of application servers, in particular WebLogic and Tomcat. Practical experience in the configuration and performance improvements in a clustered environment is an advantage.
• Knowledge of the essentials of interoperability technology (e.g. web services, message-oriented middleware, service-oriented bus).
• Experience with RDBMS (Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB). * * Good working knowledge of SQL.
• Proven experience with Linux and shell-scripting (preferably bash).
• Proven experience in using continuous integration tools (e.g. Maven, Apache ant, Bamboo, Jenkins, Sonatype Nexus, Ansible, Groovy…).
• Proven experience in version control systems, preferably Git and Git-based products (e.g. GitLab, Bitbucket, …)
• Good technical drafting skills
• Ability to integrate in an international/multi-cultural environment, rapid self-starting capability, ability to work in a team, high sense of responsibility and good communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate with various stakeholders, and to work autonomously.

Additional Skills and Expertise :

• Good knowledge of information systems life cycle management.
• Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo and other Atlassian tools.
• Experience with Java EE technologies.
• Experience with scripting languages, such as Perl or Python.
• Experience with Windows system administration and/or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP). A security oriented approach is an asset.
• Familiarity with Commission methodologies and supporting tools such as PM², BPM@EC and Agile@EC.
• Proactivity and ability to combine several tasks
