Overview:
Bricsys is a global provider of engineering design software brought to market under the BricsCAD brand, powering 2D drafting, 3D modeling, mechanical design, and building information modeling (BIM). Bricsys wants to become the industry leader and reference in the complete design market and is focused on providing a robust and innovative CAD software platform and industry leading support at a compelling price. Founded in 2020, Bricsys is a founding member of the Open Design Alliance. Since 2018, Bricsys is part of Hexagon AB. Bricsys is currently looking for an R&D Software Engineer to contribute to the product development across the entire BricsCAD product family.

Responsibilities:
As an R&D Software Engineer at Bricsys, you closely work with a small project team in the lap of the R&D team. The job is very diverse. Besides developing, a senior engineer helps designing the software architecture and mentors more junior colleagues. At Bricsys, we have an open software review culture. You will be working on challenging problems; in a good balance between new, innovative projects and continuously improving existing features.
Some examples of projects currently under development:
  • A tool to assist users in creating 2D plans from 3D drawings. The challenges are in creating a flexible yet easy-to-use UI on the one hand and providing a meaningful 2D translation for 3D elements on the other. And it needs to be fast!
  • We’ve recently started (anonymized) collection of user data w.r.t. the use of our software. We expect big challenges in analyzing this data, finding problematic paths users take and thinking about ways to prevent them from going down those paths.
  • And about a dozen more!
By doing this, as a R&D Software Engineer, you will be part of a larger and international team that aims to develop an industry leading and very user-friendly product family for customers in the AEC, GIS, civil engineering, and mechanical CAD markets.

Qualifications:
  • Master or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or other (applied) sciences (or you can prove you are at this level in some other way).
  • 3+ years of professional experience (or equivalent by showing relevant personal/student work, preferably C++ (at least C++11) or Python (for machine learning/data science purposes). Both profiles are of interest to the team.
  • Ability to design and develop complex software.
  • Strong mathematical insight (e.g. computational geometry, machine learning, probabilistic modeling, data mining).
  • Willingness to mentor junior colleagues.
  • Ability to realistically plan your own work and work independently and reliably.
  • Ability to coordinate your work with team members and to be open and honest in communication.
  • Full professional proficiency in English.
Knowledge of any of the following is a plus:
  • C++14/17, boost, Object Oriented Design, Optimization, High Performance and Parallel computing (C++ profile)
  • Data technology and Machine Learning libraries and tools; Pytorch/Tensorflow, ONNX, Numpy, Pandas, Scipy, Scikit-Learn, Pyspark (Python Machine Learning profile)
  • Working experience in Google Cloud Platform, deploying Rest APIs, Kubeflow.
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD), Architecture (BIM), Engineering, 3D sketching skills, Computational Geometry.
