MISSION:

Here, in Nivelles (Belgium), you will join a collaborative team full of passionate change-makers. As Scientist RNA Vaccine Development, you will participate to the development of RNA vaccines in collaboration with external partners. You will act as Technical lead and work with Univercells R&D Teams (RNA Research, RNA delivery & administration, preclinical evaluation) to develop vaccine candidates.

As Scientist RNA Vaccine Development, you will also be responsible for Drug substance production, characterization and you will collaborate with CDMOs // CROs to develop appropriate analytical assays to evaluate vaccine performance in vitro and in vivo. As Scientist RNA Vaccine Development, you will also be responsible of Tech Transfer to external partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead mRNA vaccine candidate development in collaboration with Univercells R&D teams
• Ensure that all the development activities (internal and outsourced) are executed according to the development plan of the mRNA vaccine candidate.
• Identify risks on technical feasibility, timing and seek a remediation/mitigation plan for identified risks and escalate any technical issues (process and/or analytical) to the relevant internal forum.
• Be the SPOC in the context of outsourcing partnership as appropriate.
• Lead the operational steps for RNA production and characterization.
• Preparation of the technical reports as per the development of the mRNA vaccine candidate.
• Tech transfer to external partner.
• Supply of starting material.
• Contribution to and supervision of the experiments in the lab.
• Plan and anticipate needs of consumables and equipments.
• Analytical assays outsourcing.
• Accountable for technical reports drafted by internal and external collaborators.
• Management of documentation related to experiments (Protocols and report writing).
• Results analysis and presentation.
• Traceability of performed operational work through recording of all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and accountability.
• Interaction with and support to the Project Managers

PROFILE-EXPERIENCE:

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology (or related field that involves vaccine development)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the field.
• Experience in mRNA vaccine development is an asset
• Strong sense of observation and capability of troubleshooting
• Resistance to stress and flexibility (adaptability to a changing and multi-tasked environment)
• Enthusiasm and agility to work on a variety of projects and to learn more every day
• Strong organizational skills, proactivity, scientific curiosity, desire to be impactful
• Capability to work in a cross-functional and multi-cultural team
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
