Job Description

The Manager of Mining Europe is responsible to provide European Management and regional operations with the knowledge necessary for safe and optimal use of key resources and reserves. In charge of developing long-term mine plans and assessing shorter-term plans designed by local teams, he also leads operational excellence in his field of expertise and grows mining engineering competencies across European sites.

List Of Tasks
  • Define rules and good practices for mine planning;
  • Integrate inputs from Geology, Environmental and other technical staff to create optimized long term mine plans ;
  • Assess 1 to 5 years plans designed by the local teams, track progress against plan, give recommendations to anticipate issues and monitor their effective implementation;
  • Provide technical expertise for safe and efficient extraction of deposits, including the selection of equipment;
  • Analyze mining operations, propose and implement optimizations ;
  • Participate in initial set up of the major contract mining agreements, lead yearly technical review and formulate recommendations;
  • Identify and share the best practices, connect people and organize the cross-fertilization between teams ;
  • Assist other departments with specific projects when needed (due diligence, audit of suppliers…).
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the development of long term mine plans targeting an optimal use of our key resources and reserves;
  • Responsible to assess the consistency of the 1 to 5 years plans developed by local teams with our company values of Long Term, Respect, Customer Focus, Efficiency and Responsibility;
  • Responsible for operational excellence in his field of expertise ;
  • Responsible to develop and consolidate the mining engineering competencies across the European sites ;
  • Other related responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Requirements

Master’s Degree in Mining Engineering or Geology with a minimum of 10 Years of experience in mining.

Needed Knowledge
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of mine design and planning;
  • Sound knowledge of mine planning software;
  • Deep understanding of mining operations including safety, blasting and mining equipment ;
  • Experience in continuous improvement;
  • Good understanding of geology and geological modeling;
  • Good knowledge of the lime industry;
  • Experience in sampling and quality control of carbonate minerals.

  • Able to accept frequent short missions abroad that should not represent more than 50% of working days.
