Our Architectural Engineering department focuses on the research and development of strategic products in the field of fiber optics telecommunications and serves as a predevelopment stage for the rest of the R&D organization, with a focus on development projects in optical fiber management and sealing technologies.

We are hiring a Mechanical Engineer at our Kessel Lo, Belgium site to support the generation of new concepts and modular designs to maximize the possibilities within our fiber connectivity product portfolio.

This is a creative and complex role where product design, creative thinking and effective collaboration across multiple teams including manufacturing, suppliers, engineering and more will be key; as will solid technical engineering skills and a strong desire to learn and really get stuck in with hands on work in the labs to test out your ideas.

How You’ll Help Us Connect The World

The role is key in developing mechanical appliances for fiber optic telecommunication products to support the high-speed networks of the future! You’ll learn and maintain a full overview of our product portfolio, always considering how your designs can re-use, incorporate or learn from existing product components, and thinking ahead to the next gen impact.

You’ll use your product design and development skills to bring new concepts to life, build and test solutions that address customer problems, are reliable, minimize costs, and are easy to manufacture.

Required Qualifications For Consideration

• BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering/Product Development
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling using Creo
• English and Dutch language proficiency
• Team player with excellent communications skills and ability to collaborate effectively across many teams and stakeholders
• A good working knowledge of FEA and analytical modeling
• Knowledge of statistical methods and analysis; experience with statistical tolerance modeling, DOE and GD&T
• Ability to identify, break down and solve a variety of difficult technical problems
• Disciplined and well-organized in documentation (plans, requirements, drawing and design reviews)
• Able to deliver creative, out-of-the box concepts and designs
• Excel in conceptual design thinking and keeping overview in complex systems
  

You Will Excite Us If You Have

• Experience in high volume manufacturing and assembly processes, particularly those of plastic injection molded and metal stamped parts
• Knowledge of fibre optic connectivity and understanding of telecommunications industry
